Would you buy a home with foundation issues/repairs

hi all, we put an offer on a house this week. We had the inspection done and it turned up that it needs more foundation work. It had 9 piers put in 3 years ago and now it needs 10 more. The sellers are willing to put in the other 10 piers. Other than a leak in the bathroom toilet and a couple other minor issues it appears the foundation is the biggest cause for concern. It will be about half way piered at that point. I do not know a lot about foundation and I am just wondering if we should... would you buy a home with foundation issues/repairs ..read more

Ticket - Fight it or pay up?

*Sigh* I got a ticket today and am just wondering what other mamas would do in a similar situation. Dh had to meet up with a client in a town 1.5 hours away and I went along to spend some time with dh (and for yummy vegan baked goods, but that's beside the point). I offered to drive home (since dh was exhausted and cranky) and about five minutes outside of this town I got pulled over. The reason? Expired inspection. 4 months expired. [IMG... Home Inspection and Warranty Questions

It's time for me to schedule our one-year warranty walk-through. I know of several issues I plan to point out and get fixed. I happened to get an ad in the mail for a home inspection company that does new home inspections. They make a pretty good case for having an independent inspection prior to our home's first year warranty being up. It would be $270. Also, I am considering buying extended warranties for our appliances. Through GE I could cover the micro, both refrigerators, range and... Home Inspection and Warranty Questions ..read more

Another car thread from me

Sorry. I started a 'frugal car thread' a while back, and got a lot of feedback, and recommendations for Subarus, etc. So, my car is currently a 1998 Volvo XC wagon (AWD) w/197,000 miles on it. It currently needs some pretty good work (heater core, it's burning some oil, has electrical issues in the rain, etc). Probably would cost in the $1000-2000 range to get it fixed. And there are smaller other issues... Another car thread from me ..read more

I bought the deal. I know that 3 friends bought the deal using my link. But I never got emails confirming each purchase like I was supposed to- my settings are set to notify me whenever someone uses my link to buy. I have bought living social deals before and the email notification always worked quickly. Anyone else having this experience? I'm wondering if it's because they are just backlogged with orders- over 1 million sold! I hope so. The only thing better than a half-price gift card is... livingsocial amazon deal question ..read more
