I have been stalking his info for a while on his Thyroid work and wondering if he is just a fraud with a good marketing plan and supplement to sell ; or if there is actually something to it. He is a Naturopathic Endocrinologist and the author of The NY Times bestselling Adrenal Reset Diet, The Metabolism Reset Diet and The Thyroid Reset Diet. If anyone has checked his program out , would be curious what your experience is ..read more

Getting over the humps at round weights 16st, 15st etc...

Good morning all, I've been lurking here for a few months but I've not posted before. I hit 17stone and 28+%BF on 21st Jan (238lbs, 6'2" male, 44) and realised it was time to sort myself out. I put my kit on and went straight to the gym. Since then I've been going consistently at least 5 times a week and at the beginning on March I started counting calories with the help of MFP. I'm happy with my progress, currently 13st (182lb) with 17% BF and my original target was 12st12lb and 13% BF. I will drop below that weight though to get the fat off so I'm not sure what the current target is. Anywa ..read more

Hello, I am going on a vacation in June and I was wondering if I needed to count calories on vacation. It will be about 10 days long. I have lost 4 lbs these past 3 weeks or so. I hope not because i do not want to be too stressed about eating just like at home. Edit: I will post an update in the end of July. All of my weight loss questions have been answered. Thanks for the answers and support! I wish yall luck aswell ..read more

Why is MyFitnessPal saying I will gain weight when I am under calorie goal?

Hi there. I’m not sure if this is a silly question or if I’m misunderstanding the app’s calculations. I have been using the app to count calories for over two weeks now. For the past couple of days I have been 146 and 418 calories under my 1500 calorie daily goal respectively. Yet when I press “complete diary” at the end of the day, the app says that if I keep eating like this I will gain six pounds in the next five weeks. This is quite disheartening and I’m thinking it must be a mistake. I admit it’s been very difficult to meet the app’s macro goals and I often go over the fat goal even with ..read more

40/40/20 to try to maintain muscle during a cut?

39M/5'5/138lbs. Been losing for about 9 months, starting at 220. Currently running a goal of 1775 for calories. Trying to lose the last of the fat before clean bulking on a modest surplus (100-200 cal,) aiming for around 130lbs. I've been lifting this whole time, so I'm trying not to lose any muscle while getting down to goal weight/body fat. I've seen suggestions for a 40p/40c/20f split (178g protein, 178g carbs, 39g fat,) to help maintain the muscle, but sometimes the protein can be a tough one to hit. Can definitely make some dietary adjustments to get there if it's worth it, but wanted som ..read more

I logged into MFP today for the first time in over 2 years. I was happy to see that I am 10 lbs lighter than I was 2 years ago! It seems that I get stuck an awfully long time at the same weight, and then it’s as likely as not to go up instead of down. But I keep trying to make healthy lifestyle choices and in spite of the roller coaster, I’m happy to see that over all I have dropped 10 lbs!! At this rate, I may reach goal before I die! Lol. ? (I’m 73 and going strong ..read more

So back in January I lost a stone calorie counting (1600 a day), I managed to keep 10lbs off and have started again but can't seem to lose anything and only lost in the first week!? I'm week 3 now... I'm really having to keep positive and keep going but it's so hard. I've now lowered my calories to 1400 in the hope I see a difference. I'm currently 12 stone 13lbs, 5ft 4 ..read more

Are there any vegan/plant based groups on here?

Hi there I’m Rita! I’m new to MyFitnessPal, I’ve been on a whole foods plant based diet for 2 and a half years. I learn new things about nutrition daily through my own experience and or research. I’m finding macro tracking to be a bit hard or overwhelming at the moment. I eat very clean and healthy not sure why the fat is the first circle I close. I wonder if the healthy fats I’m eating count? It’s impossible to achieve my protein goal without really going over with the fats. I try to cook with a little to no (olive/avocado) oil at all. I also can’t reach my carbs goal and most of the time my ..read more

How do you manage days where you are more hungry?

Today's workout at the gym was intense. I do not trust the calorie burn indicator on the watch and eat the same amount of calories (1600) no matter my physical exercise. However today I feel extra hungry, and I only have 392 calories left for dinner which is in about an hour or so. What advice do yall have? Should I eat more? Should I wait it out? I've had a few high protein snacks but nothing is satieting me. Also had an apple. last night I had to wake up in the middle of the night to finish some meal prep (had accidentally fallen asleep) and was hungry, so during that I had a date and a fou ..read more
