Next Batch The Who - Tommy Oddly disappointing. I LOVE the music. Love to hear it live where it has ball weight, but I've always hated the way Pete recorded the music. Instead of using his LPs through roaring Hiwatts, it's mostly acoustic and 1959 Gretsch 6120 ‘Chet Atkins' Hollow Body through a 59 Fender 3x10 Bandmaster amplifier. It just sounds wimpy. Two days ago, I was cooking some meal on my induction kitchen. It has a counterclok alarm wich sounds for 2minutes. The alternative (him actually believing he HAD to sing those songs) is more of a bummer imo. When he asked me on the phone the reason I hadn't at first clicked with the early Electirc Sun, he was honestly startled when I told him it was his voice sooo...   I would be willing to bet good money this was it. As a hardcore Hendrix fanboy, I think Uli always dreamed of being that sort of artist. The problem is that his voice is way different to Hendrix, and it totally doesn't work. Also there's so much competition now at a lower price point, so if/when it does come out, it could be an expensive R&D flop.    The Tonex is already relacing Kemper as a cheaper, smaller option (without Kemper's downsides). I think Blug's design is more appealing (and probably better), but I think he's already missed his window.
