I'll be through the Lehigh Valley in July and was wondering if the Trico hatch was holding up in the 12 or 15 years since I was there last. It was a favorite of mine over the 7 (7?) years I lived in Bethlehem in the late 90's , early 2000's. Cedar's Tricos usually kicked in later than the Little Lehigh's and that's when I should be around there. It didin't have much in the way of habitat and the fish were never more than a foot (usually closer to 9 inches), but I loved that little stream... Read more ..read more

June 14th - Delaware River Bucks County

Excuse my digression before the fish report... June 14th is a very special day, besides being Flag Day. Twenty two years ago as I was brushing my teeth getting ready to go to work my phone rang. It was my best friend and lifetime fishing partners brother in law. Kenny had died early in the AM while guiding a sport for stripers off of Martha's Vineyard. Cause of death might have been a heart attack but it didn't really matter why. I could make this real long but to cut to the chase, if not... Read more ..read more

Late fishing buddy

Anybody else have a fishing buddy who is always late? Nothing drives me more crazy than sitting around waiting for my fishing buddy who is always at least 10 minutes late and sometimes as late as 30 minutes. Usually he texts me an excuse about having to take a mean crap. It’s not like he gets up to uncover and hitch up the boat and take a mean crap. Who doesn’t take a mean crap every morning? Or better yet, who doesn’t account for this when they have to be somewhere? Lateness drives me out... Read more ..read more

Anybody have insight on when the Trikes will be happening? Most years I would aim for July Fourth on the Lil Lehi, thought the hatch there has been sparse for several years. Most years, about now I would see Trikes on the Brandywine, Tulpy etc. The weather has ben blowing hot and cold all year ..read more

I live in Pittsburgh, and I will be heading to Philadelphia for a few days for work next week. I have two nights (3 days) free to make it back to Pittsburgh, and I'm trying to piece together a mini-fishing trip that brings me back west. I don't mind driving a bit out of the way to get back home (within reason). This was my first thought about an itenerary, but I'd like to see what other folks would do. Day 1: Head north out of Philly to White Haven and hit a stream or two in that area... Read more ..read more

I am in my early 70's and are using cheaters when on the stream. I would like to hear any suggestions for help tying on my fly without constantly putting my glasses on and back into my pocket. I have seen the flip glasses that clip onto your hat but would appreciate other suggestions for a fix ..read more

Wifey and I Went to a Yard sale a couple of weeks ago and bought a big box of random fishing and outdoor gear for $30. After sorting through a lot of junk I did find a few things that maybe useful and are well worth my investment. There is a bunch of parts that I assume go to to various vices. Does anyone know what this goes to? There also is a bunch of shotgun chokes and spin fishing lures ..read more

Can you help me I.D. and find this material

I have these TINY or maybe TINY 'rubber' striped nymph legs. I don't think they are the MFC grizzly legz or whatever. I have those. The ones I'm looking for are, or seem to be round cut. They are opaque, not transleucent. I think they are tan/brown striped. They are like 1mm diameter. They aren't 'span-flex'. They are probably a silicon material as they have great stretch and haven't dry-rotted over several years. I don't have the packaging and I don't know what they are... Read more ..read more
