I just opened up the package of replacement hammer springs from either Midway or Brownells, and they are quite a bit heavier. Presumably all K,L,N frames take the same main spring so the fact that I have a model 14-2 shouldn't matter right? I both took some dimensions as well as used a calibrated force gauge to confirm that he replacements, supposedly genuine S&W parts, are considerably heavier. Do you guys know of this? This is really something that has been bugging me and I wanted to ask the gunsmiths who are in this forum about this one since I'm really stumped and curious to find out: 1. Can one convert a Para P-16 .40 S&W to a .45ACP pistol and would there be any advantage to using a gun designed for the .40 S&W to shoot .45 ACPs.
