LOUD WOMEN

Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Margaux (Margaux Bouchegnies) shares new single ‘Picture It’ – another snapshot from Margaux’s debut full-length LP Inside the Marble. Margaux captures the dreadful feeling of not knowing what’s next. “After graduating in 2021 I was having some deep dread about what the future might look like. There was the obvious uncertainty from closing the chapter of school one year into a pandemic, but also a deeper sense of fear surrounding death that really consumed me at the time. “Picture It” is about desperately wanting to know in advance. Sonically I was trying to e ..read more

LOUD WOMEN
by Stacy Norman

LA-based band The Hellflowers were formed in 2015 by Christina and Matt Eskew. Their music is a perfect mix of pop punk, rockabilly, and new wave. Though they’re no strangers to playing in the UK, this year will be their first time playing at Rebellion festival, on the After Dark stage on the Sunday. Read on to see what Christina has to say! For anyone not familiar with your music, how would you describe your sound? If Blondie and The Clash had a baby, that’s us! If you had to recommend one of your songs to a new listener, which one would it be? Vacation. Just because it’s everyone’s favorite ..read more

Bad Bangs ups the ante with their Out Of Character LP
LOUD WOMEN
by Izzy The Gent

Sometimes things just fall into place. That may certainly be said about Melbourne psych / country / garage / punk band Bad Bangs. The group formed in 2016 and hasn’t looked back. Their debut album put them on the map. Their live show became the exclamation point. Feeling the energy, the band quickly made their way back to the recording studio. We are excited for the band’s sophomore album, Out Of Character.  Grab, smash and go is how I would describe the first two songs. Pulsating 16 note bass lines propel us forward. The drums stay tight, in tow like a sidecar on a Ho ..read more

Chicago’s Dehd delivers an album to savour in Poetry
LOUD WOMEN
by Mel. D

Chicago’s own three-piece musical sensation, Dehd, has released a resounding trash pop powerhouse of an album in Poetry, out now via Fat Possum Records. Buzzing basslines open ‘Mood Ring’ before confidently slamming into the shimmering daydream vocals of Emily Kempf. Ushering us into a glowing, feel-good track celebrating love, being smitten, and how wonderful that bond can be. As steady guitar, balanced drums, and more vocals join in for the chorus, ‘Mood Ring’ further solidifies itself as an outstanding, uplifting track to pull out for dramatic serenades of your partner. I love a good dash ..read more

Heaven help us – Crumbs’ new single ‘Dear Deirdre’ is too damn good
LOUD WOMEN
by Kirsten Rowland

Leeds icons Crumbs are back with a banging new single to celebrate their new album launch, with a nostalgia packed video to boot. ‘Dear Deirdre’ is almost cheerfully existential, giving a poppy punk voice to that all-too-familiar hysteria that happens when the universe presses down on you and you just want somebody – anybody – to hear. Don’t misunderstand me, this is a really fun song, made even better by the Dream-Phone centred video – absolute genius and very entertaining! “Dear Deirdre is a song about yet another existential crisis – and the almost ridiculousness of trying to navigate it ..read more

Newcastle’s IRKED launch impressive debut EP
LOUD WOMEN
by gee.platts

IRKED are hitting the scene with an impressive self-titled debut EP. The five-piece punk supergroup hailing from Newcastle is composed of veterans to the territory, with an impressive backlog of experience under their belts. Formed in 2022, and tearing up the UK ever since; from pissed-off-and-ready-to-party gigs, to screaming anti-establishment and begging social unrest anthems, IRKED are ones to watch.  Helen “Hells” Walkinshore rips up on vocals for the five tracks on the EP; they go hard, guttural and filthy, reeking of influence from the likes of G.L.O.S.S and Gouge Away. Recorded in ..read more
