`99 4Runner, bought replacement end links and there is this wrench (?) on the spline. I sure it helps when installing, but if I use it to hold the spline while installing, I'll have to leave it on? Also I thought there would be a bushing or something on the sway bat where the end link goes through the eye, but that means the swat bar will be bearing on the threaded portion? Without tempting fate to much, I’ve got my truck back to a fairly reliable state. Still need to convert the AC to 134 and do timing chain and guides but otherwise she’s running and humming along. With that said, what’s a good first mod to do? This isn’t an off roader or overlander. It’s just a toy to drive around, hit a few dirt roads, just enjoy. And no, I’m not leaving it stock. I just picked up a 1986 4x4 pickup with the 22r. It was my BIL's truck for 17 years, and he kept it in great shape. It idled perfectly once it settled in. The problem I'm having is last week I started it and didn't wait for it to settle in before getting out to go do something. I assumed it was idling because it's so quite and smooth, but when I came back to check on it, it was dead. It was dead for probably around 5 minutes or more. Hi, ​​​​​​hey all, I picked up a 94 4Runner with no spark. Prev owner said he rebuilt the engine, daily'ed it for a couple months with no problems, then parked it for a while and now it doesn't start anymore. I also think that it might have started its life as a 3.0 and gotten swapped to 22re, so no idea what year or anything the 22re is. Anyways, I've tried a new distributor and igniter and verified that the ignition coil is good. 1990 4runner 22re Just finished timing chain/head gasket. Truck would start before procedure. Now the check engine light is faintly on when the key is off and out of the ignition, it goes off when I put the key in. The engine turns over but won't catch. 1, Are these two issues related? 2. Hey guys, I’m hoping to get a little guidance. I have a 90 pickup 4x4 3vze manual with EGR delete. It was running really well for the better part of a year. Started fine, good idle, good gas mileage. Then in a cold morning last winter I ran it for five minutes or so, shut it off for five min, then couldn’t start it again. I let it sit and tried to start it the following day when it was warmer. It cranked a bit but fired up. I assumed it was a problem with the cold start injector. I’ve had problems with the wiring. My 3vze is having an issue starting only when it has been warmed up. If it is cold then it starts and runs fine until I turn it off. After that point though, it will start up, idle goes slightly below normal, then over the next 5 seconds or so it stutters and dies. So far I have: - checked for vacuum leaks with soapy water (I have a smoke machine on the way just to be sure) - Added seafoam to my fuel - Tested TPS which seems to be fine - Replaced distributor cap and rotor - tested and cleaned MAF - Replaced air filter - Cleaned throttle body while still on the engine (I have not thoroughly cl ..read more

1988 pickup, 22re, 20k on rebuild. Hey all, doing my bi-annual smog on the truck and I am aving an issue with setting timing. Following procedure in the FSM(IG15, steps 3/4). When I jump T and E1,I get the light on the dash, I set base to 5*, pull jumper and timing doesnt advance to 12* I am using an Innova light. I have checked the TPS, it is good. I checked my vacum hoses, all seem good. I wiggle wires going to TPS, no changes. I have been driving the rebuild for about 18k miles(22re Performance) It has smogged several times with no issues.
