Tow Dolly, FJ80

Has anyone towed (or have thoughts on towing) a ‘92 FJ80 on a tow dolly with a 5th gen T4R? It would be about 3 hours drive time and quite flat. No mountains or anything. My only hold up is how unbelievably soft these suspensions are. But it also wouldn’t have much tongue weight. I know braking would have to be done with much more advance notice. I have a CDL so am used to larger loads, just not on such a small vehicle ..read more

Gen1 4runner New Suspension

Just got a new 1987 mint 4Runner. Rear leaf springs are sagging. Was going to get a new set of OME springs that claim to have a 2" lift. New Bilstein shocks all around too. Will I also need to add a set shackles to the rear? Hoping I don't have to, but do I need to also mess with the front, add a set of ARB Front Torsion bars or 2" front spacers? Hoping I can just add the new OME rear springs and shocks and be GTG! Thx ..read more

Install Tutorial: Front 1/2" Cornfed Spacer on KDSS for 1" lift

This tutorial gives a step by step for installing a 1/2" Cornfed (or other brand) front spacer (aka leveling kit) on a KDSS equipped 5th Gen 4Runner. A 1/2" front spacer will yield a 1" lift due to the geometry of the front suspension. Rationale: I consider this 1/2" spacer, 32-33” A/T tires, and a proper skid plate to be essential mods on any 5th Gen 4Runner other than the TRD Pro. The TRD Pro sits 1" higher from the showroom floor, has Nitto Terra A/T tires, and has the more proper... Read more ..read more

Radiator/Transmission Question

Picked up another 4Runner...this one in a 2001 with only 150K miles on it. Pretty bone stock so I have gone through and replaced ball joints control arms and a few other things to get it ready for a 2" lift (seems all bilstien kits are on backorder). Anyway, I wanted to also put a new radiator in just to be safe and ordered what I need...all OEM. So when I went to take out the old one I noticed that someone had disconnected the transmission lines and just looped them so they did not run... Read more ..read more
