Thirty-five (35) students who were not able to have classes at the Naleba Youth Training Centre will resume classes next week. This is because of the fire that destroyed their dormitory in April. The training centre which comes under the Ministry of Youth and Sports got burnt on April 14. The fire destroyed the boys’ dormitory which led to the suspension of classes. Labasa police are investigating a report where a 12-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by her uncle. The alleged incident occurred in the early hours of yesterday morning. The accused who was staying with the victim’s family, had entered the room she was sharing with her sister, and committed the alleged offence. She alerted her parents and upon checking her room, the suspect had fled the scene. The matter was reported at the Labasa Police Station and investigations are ongoing. A woman in her 30s died following a motor vehicle accident in Lomawai, Sigatoka yesterday morning. The victim was one of two passengers in a vehicle driven by a 39-year-old woman, and the three were returning to Lautoka.
