Stock laces on both of my wading boots are crapping the bed and due for immediate replacement. Any suggestions on the best replacement laces to buy? I don’t expect them to be indestructible but would like some level of longevity ..read more

The Holy Grail
On Thursday morning, May 23, 2024, after a restless night, I rolled over just in time to turn off my alarm clock minutes before it would have rung at 3:00 a.m. A quick look at weather radar showed thunderstorms crossing the lower to mid portion of Pennsylvania from west to east, so I hoped my trip to the northwoods from Blair County would keep me north of the storms and potentially muddy water.
As luck would have it, light rain and...

Had it all planned that for today through Monday was going to be time in the river. Also exploring new stretches and trips. We'll that all changed with pretty good case of Sciatica?. Oh well, 4 days of at home therapy, meds and watching fishing on TV ..read more

I am not a fisherman. I go maybe once every 2 years...well the wife wants to go this weekend so here we go.
Any tips on technique or bait (not fly fishing) for this time of year to use on a smallish stocked River? Going to take the canoe and fish a one or 2 mile stretch. Thanks ..read more

I catch and release most of the time. However I started fishing a stocked stream that has a healthy population of native brookies. I decided to keep the stocked browns and rainbows the state stocks to help reduce competition with the native brookies. Personally I’d rather see the Brookie population increase and improve ..read more

This time of year is a busy time of year on PAs trout streams. For about another 2 weeks trout are a lot of folks primary target before they shift over to warm water species. In the interim I often find myself not only considering water conditions but also angler traffic in my pre-trip considerations. Especially on Saturdays I will focus on the most obscure locations where I expect to see few if any other fisherman. Other trout anglers are no bueno for productive spinner...

For the past few years I've been taking a weeks vacation in early May to fish for trout locally. I always seem to have my best results this time of the year. Started out the week with the local Lions Club trout derby here in Chambersburg on Sat 4th-Sun 5th. I used to fish in it every year until I wised up 12 yrs ago and stopped donating my money to this circus. They announced this would be the last year of it so I decided to give it a go one more time, thinking my trout catching skills have...

May Trout Treks
First Outing in May
First of all, Happy Mother's Day to your wives, mothers or any female anglers on this site. There don't appear to be many women on this forum, but I could be wrong. At any rate, I hope all on this site are celebrating the day. I'm cooking dinner for my Mom and then we're having ice cream with friends. If fishing on Sunday, I avoid fishing on Mother's Day. Many years ago, I had visited my parents the weekend before Mother's...
