Shape matching

I have to find all shapes in an image given user draws over one. There are can be more than 10000 similar shapes. Simple contour detection and matchShapes didn’t work well. The shapes can be in different orientations. And also different types of shapes. However all geometrical shapes like rectangles, circles , circles with lines etc. Any deep learning approaches or other approaches ? submitted by /u/gaussianreddit [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I want to get started with computer vision but am so confused, I am familiar with machine learning and deep learning models and I need some guidance to get started with this. I also have some experience with cnns and all but I'm really confused where to start. And btw am comfortable with pytorch. I have created an open source alternative to Microsoft's Recall AI. This records everything on your screen and can be searched through using natural language latter. But unlike Microsoft 's implementation this isnt a privacy nightmare and is out for you to use right now. and comes with real time encryption It is a new starting project and is in need of Contributions so please hope over to the github repo and give it a star https://github.com/VedankPurohit/LiveRecall Alot of features like opening websites directly through LiveRecall or keep track of things on screen like which app is open or c ..read more

Hi everyone, i am creating shoplifting detection model, i have already used yolov8 but it is not working good as it is 2d and i want to train a model that detect activity of user and it should know that what human is doing, is he shoplifting or just shopping. I trained yolo with annotation. But results were not good. I can't seem to run hugging face's video classification as I can't seem to import their package. I can't seem to run their basic example code. I also cant seem to run 3d CNN video classification as I can't import my own data set. Can anyone help me please ???????. Any advice will ..read more

What kind of annotations are done for action recognition?. We have a case where we need check a 15sec clip of activity and figure out what activitiy is being performed. Is this book any good?

A few months ago my university's library was giving away old books and I took a copy of Machine Vision by Ramesh Jain, Rangachar Kasturi and Brian G. Schunck, published in 1995. It's been sitting in my room since, because I didn't have much time to read it, but I've been looking at it just now and it seems interesting for getting a good grasp of the math behind CV and the more traditional approches. Have any of you read it? And if so, is it any good? submitted by /u/LonelyFish7 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Needed some help with image analysis

So I am very new to image analysis but its one of the major components of my research. For my research, I need to be able to identitfy atleast 95% of the algae so that I can find its centre of mass and angle of inclination(we assume the algae is elliptical shaped). The problem is that when I am trying to use openCV's contour recognition, I am getting broken contours and thus not able to fit an ellipse. So can someone who has some experience with it guide me on what other methods I can use? I am attaching a sample image of the algae and the result I am getting. Thankyou so much! https://pr ..read more

25 applications, 1 interview, 3 applications

Job hunting with a niche such as computer vision has made things hard. The one first round interview i have is one of the few jobs i applied to that i don’t honestly want. It’s closer related to recommendation algorithms/grouping and i’m very interested in maintaining my footing in computer vision. What tips do you guys have? I’ve been networking well but it hasn’t led to anything yet. I had one person offer a recommendation at their company but i’ve not seen anything come of it. Luckily i’m still employed and not desperate but i’ve applied to every job i’ve seen that aligns with my experienc ..read more

How to make facial recognition work hand-in-hand with semantic search?

I have been exploring for a while on semantic search on images. So as far as I know, I know that we can make a simple semantic search based on the pre-trained CLIP encoders and a vector database. However let's say I want to include additional data into the mix like faces with their names, so now how do I go about doing this? Do I have an separate model for facial clustering followed by recognition? If so, how do I combine the results from this and CLIP? If not, is there a way for me to train CLIP to recognize these faces? submitted by /u/Snoo_65491 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
