Rikon 70-1824 Review

I've had my new lathe for about three weeks now. So far it's been great. Comments I have the 110v version with 1.75 HP. No issues at all with power. Overall, great lathe. That, along with outstanding Rikon customer service, makes this an easy lathe to recommend in the $3,000 range. Installation and setup was easier than I expected. Install the legs and the master power box and that's about it. Pros Fit and finish is good. The moveable control box is a must-have... Read more ..read more

I just received my American Woodturner magazine and was super excited to see our clubs BOC donation in there!! Me and my brother Ethan donated over half of the boxes you see in the photo below (all of the back two rows and part of the third row) and they even indirectly mentioned our commitment to making one every month! Many other members also stepped up and donated beautiful boxes! Also pictured is David Wright, our BOC coordinator and he was also one of our teachers/mentors last year... Read more ..read more

Turning cufflinks

A while back, my wife bought me an empty set of cufflinks (something along the lines of this) and a couple of coins that fit into them, and she wants me to wear them for our upcoming second wedding (this one's for her family). The coins fit in the cufflinks but not snugly and the coins are thinner than the recess. This is clearly an epoxy job. The most direct way to get the cufflinks fixed up would be to epoxy the coins directly in the them and work them on the lather. However, I... Read more ..read more

Even thought I hear this set up is very low risk. nobody in my club seems to know how to make one otherwise I'd consult there. any help is appreciated. Im also open to suggestions of any unit out there that puts out same power as a vaporizor . currently using an optima , and its not enough power ..read more

I tried my Lyle Jamieson System

Received the system Saturday, assembled, and watched videos all Saturday night. I should have practiced first but I jumped right into it?. This one measures 9-1/2” x 5” when I reduce the foot, and the entrance hole is 1-5/8”. Did a few things right but had a hard time reaching the widest point of the form and I adjusted everything I could think of, the bar would hit the entrance hole and prevent the reach I needed. Not the tools fault but the operator. Top is around 1/8” thick and probably... Read more ..read more
