IPhone stops recording

If I press 'record an activity' on my OS app, and on the walk sit down to enjoy a packed lunch, my iPhone aborts the recording altogether. It doesn't offer resume, discard or save, just cancels and deletes the recording so far, and it cannot be recovered. Then the iPhone invites me to start a new separate unconnected recording. There must be a setting on the iPhone itself or on the app which I can disable, which says something like “Abort any recording if the walker pauses for lunch”; and there must be a setting which says “Don't abort any recording unless the walker commands it” which I can h ..read more

Re: Where are you good people walking DURING the week?

Friday’s forecast looked good for a walk, but by lunchtime Thursday I was getting itchy feet, so headed over to Loweswater. Parking up at Maggie’s Bridge, I headed round the lake past Watergate Farm and turned left onto the steep pull through Holme Wood, followed by the even steeper pull alongside the fence up to Burbank Fell. The weather was pretty much perfect: plenty of cloud, though not quite grazing the high tops. The air was clear, and the views extensive. The smaller fells often provide the best views, imo. From Burbank, it’s a short, damp hop over to Blake Fell, then the same again to ..read more

Quote from: TPMB12 on Today at 10:53:45 I thought SWCP was toughest due to length and height gain? It might be if you’ve walked it, I haven’t!  ..read more

If yours is like mine, the cable that plugs into the camera is detachable from the charger. It has a usb end on it. You then put the usb plug in a laptop/computer, you switch the camera on, and you search your file eexplorer for Drive: (D). In that drive you should find a folder called DCIM, which will contain your photos. It's just possible that Sony could make you download their software called Play Memories Home or something like that, before you are allowed to do the above. Once you've downloaded the photos, use an image host as advised by Percy, I will add PostImage to his list ..read more

You need to get the photos from the camera on to the internet somewhere. Most people would do this by plugging their camera into their computer - no idea if your tablet can do this though. Once they’re on the computer/tablet you need to upload them to a photo hosting site like imgbb, imgur or Flickr. You can then get links to them which you can post here ..read more

Re: Berghaus Hillwalker II GTX Boots

I would probably agree that Berghaus are not what they were, but I have had two pairs of Hillmaster II GTX boots (rather than Hillwalkers) and not had any problems with them. The first pair are  worn to the point where tha sole is nearly smooth and showing an underlayer but remain waterproof. The second were bought because of a good price and experience of the first. They too remain in good order. I treat them regularly with cleaning and dubbin that I get from an equestrian supplier as it's much cheaper than the stuff they sell in outdoorsy shops. I'd still recommend these although I'm no ..read more

Muckboots artic sport. I will do 7km max in them and certainly not up any sort of hill. Essex clay is a pain and with the spring we have had I would of done little walking some weeks without them when having to wade through ankle deep slop. They were my go to dog walking option in the winter ..read more

Actually, that's a question I've not come across before, and it's not a bad one at that.  Five years ago I walked 32.3 miles from home to home. Inland from south of Whitstable to Westgate-on-Sea; back along the coast through Whitstable and on to Seasalter; and back to my house. It took me 7hrs 55mins. In the other direction I've been dropped off in the morning a long way from home and made my way back on footpaths and trails many times. The longest distance I've done was in August 2021 - Bluebell Hill to home, 41.4 miles in 11hrs 1min ..read more
