The auction of a trophy awarded to the late Diego Maradona that was planned this week has been postponed, French auction house Aguttes said on Sunday amid a judicial investigation looking into the possible resale of stolen goods.
Maradona’s heirs this week failed to stop the auction of the Golden Ball trophy he received for being the best player at the 1986 World Cup after starting an urgent judicial motion. A French court ruled the auction could go ahead but the lawyer for Maradona's heirs lodged an appeal.
“Maradona has always aroused passions, and this continues despite the recent court rul ..read more

CHICAGO (AP) — One of the best things about baseball is that if you do something bad, you just have to be patient to get a shot at redemption.
Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki didn't even have to wait long for his shot on Saturday night. He may, however, be thinking about it for a long time.
In one wild second inning, Suzuki committed an ugly error that opened the door for four Cincinnati Reds runs in the top of the frame, then he got the four runs right back in the bottom of the inning by belting his first career grand slam.

Adames also had a two-out, two-run single in the seventh inning.
“It was a good win,” Brewers manager Pat Murphy said. “It could have gone the other way real quick.”
Chicago's Garrett Crochet struck out eight over six innings of one-run ball. Crochet has been one of the few bright spots for the White Sox this season. He took the mound Saturday having allowed just two runs over his last four starts while striking out 32 o ..read more

PARIS (AP) — This one's for the birds: A pigeon landed on the court during a French Open match Saturday, leading the chair umpire to use a towel to rescue the fallen fowl.
The pigeon dropped to the red clay at Court Suzanne Lenglen — and remained on the ground — during a changeover in the fourth set of 2021 U.S. Open champion Daniil Medvedev's third-round victory over Tomas Machac at Roland Garros.
“I hope the bird was OK. It was not looking good. I think maybe something (was wrong) with the wing,” Medvedev said. “The referee did a good job. He was very gentle. I think (that's) important. I ho ..read more

LAKE FOREST, Ill. — A noted absence from Chicago Bears offseason OTA's, at least during sessions available to the media, was Pro Bowl defensive end Montez Sweat.
Head Coach Matt Eberflus cleared some of the air around his top edge rusher Friday.
"I'm not going to get into all the numbers, in terms of like the exact dates and when guys were here, but he's been in the building," Eberflus said of Sweat. "He's been here a few, several times during the offseason and when he's in, he's locked in and ready to go.
"And of course, he'll be here next week and we're excited about that."

CHICAGO (AP) — Angel Reese is ensuring some of the glare from the bright spotlight on the WNBA shines squarely on the Chicago Sky.
The Sky are embracing all the attention — led by the gregarious Reese.
The seventh overall draft pick will remind anyone who will listen that there is a group of rookies helping boost soaring WNBA ratings, attendance and revenue, not just the one who plays in Indiana. However, Reese has repeatedly said she has no animosity toward Caitlin Clark and the deserved attention that comes her way, but just wants fans to appreciate the group as a whole.
