A woman rafting on the Cache la Poudre River west of Fort Collins died Thursday after the raft hit a bridge pylon, according to the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office. Emergency dispatchers first received calls at 12:55 p.m. about an empty commercial raft on the river near Greyrock Trailhead off of Colorado 14, sheriff’s officials said in a news release Friday. The trailhead is in Poudre Canyon approximately 18 miles west of Fort Collins. Northbound lanes of E-470 near the airport will be closed for hours Friday due to a “major crash,” highway authorities said. All northbound lanes are closed near 88th Avenue and traffic is being detoured via Pena Boulevard. One southbound lane is closed and southbound traffic is being detoured via 96th Avenue to Tower Road. Highway authorities at 11:45 a.m. said it will take at least two hours to clear the crash. The Arapahoe County coroner on Friday identified a man shot and killed by Aurora police in an apartment complex near Expo Park as 37-year-old Kilyn Lewis. Lewis was suspected in an attempted homicide in Denver when the Aurora police SWAT team contacted him in the complex on South Ironton Street on May 23, police have previously said. Lewis was exiting a car at the apartment complex when police contacted him. An officer shot Lewis during the interaction and Lewis was hospitalized. The Aurora Police Department released a 911 recording and bodycam footage Thursday of the fatal shooting by two of its officers on May 4 of Jose Luis Rodriguez-Balderrama, a suspect in an earlier shooting at an apartment near 1400 Clinton St. The victim of the original shooting called 911 to report that Rodriguez-Balderrama, a 28-year-old Aurora resident, was sitting on the couch of his apartment with a gun pointed at his own head.
