Central State University in Ohio is the latest historically Black college or university to join the HBCU Pathway program at Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The community college enrolls more than 10,000 students. African Americans make up 15 percent of the student body. The community college’s HBCU Pathway program provides its students, as well as local high school students, with the opportunity to connect with representatives from HBCUs across the country. Xavier University of Louisiana, a historically Black university in New Orleans, has established a new pipeline program with the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. Mary Magdaline White, dean of students at South Carolina State University, passed away on May 10, 2024. She was 56 years old. At the time of her death, White had been a member of the South Carolina State University staff for two decades. She began her tenure with the university as a secretary in the Brooks Health Center.
