I have always been interested in the sciences and almost finished a marine biology degree. I am now considering going back to school, not necessarily the same field, but want to work from home. Does anyone work from home in a science field? I’m just looking to pick peoples brains about what opportunities there might be. submitted by /u/cidxo311 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Interviewing just before or shortly after starting a job?

Weird situation - what is the usual thing to do if you are either just about to start a new job or have just started a new job but get contacted for an interview at another company and want to go ahead with it? Do you just pretend that you're still working at the old company? That you have left the company but don't tell them you're about to or have just started a new job? Interested in what people have done before when they found themselves in this situation. submitted by /u/WiseacreBear [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

If an employer asks me why I left my last job, and I left due to Poor management, what should I say? Some people have said to me, that I should not talk bad about my old work place, so what would I say instead? submitted by /u/Prestigious_Agent286 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

So I ( f 28) am looking for a new job since the current job I am currently working at won’t give us raises and won’t give us health insurance benefits. The thing about this is that we are understaffed in our department and everyone said in their exit interviews that they should pay us more and offer part time positions the right to have health insurance . I mean I can see the point in this , this is the reason we don’t stay because we are doing jobs that aren’t in our job description . We used to get the opportunities to have health insurance through our job when we were first hired as part t ..read more

It’s my dream to work in film distribution, but I have absolutely zero idea on where to even begin, as the jobs I’ve applied to (which seem entry level) still require a fair bit of experience. Where does one even begin? All I have to my name is 3 years at a minimum um wage job and a bachelors in English. Any help is appreciated submitted by /u/Unfair_Employment438 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Got fired for nothing

So this Friday, one of my co-workers comes to me sprinting with tears in his eyes (yes, I'm not making it up) and tells me that he just saw an email where they're going to fire me on the spot that day! He thought it was a mistake but, in case it was true, that I shouldn't sign any paper they give me. After about 10 minutes, my supervisor comes to get me and brings me to a meeting room with the manager and someone from HR. The manager was really straightforward with it and just said that they're going to terminate my contract today. So I just straightforwardly asked what the reason was. The re ..read more

I recently graduated college and moved to Texas, at first my job was pretty nice, but then it was not so nice going from 40 hours a week to then 50 now I’m looking more at the 70-100 hours a week. Before I was making 23$ an hour and now I’m on salary of 60,000 ish a year (ish because I don’t know what the bonus is) I feel like I’m being exploited but my family says it’s the way things go when you Graduate college, tonight’s shift was 6:30 am to 3 am, I work tomorrow at 8 am which means I have to wake up at 6:30 am to get ready. Anyways please tell me I’m not crazy for thinking this is not oka ..read more

What kind of job should I be looking for?

First, let me start by saying I am looking for genuine advice, I am not looking for "You are just being lazy" or "Do you even want a job?" type of statements. I am truly trying to find a job that I can both do and stick with until I can find better options. I have tried retail (Dollar General and Speedway) and food service (Domino's and A&W), I have also tried to do college to get a degree but despite my best efforts, I was unable to pass the CORE classes required here in America. I am also stuck with where I live now due to having no money I ran out about a month ago because my last job ..read more
