Hello! My boyfriend (24m) and I (23F) are going to Japan in 2 weeks for the first time and we were hoping we could get some feedback on our itinerary.
I will admit I am an avid planner and def have planned a lot lol but I am hoping to get advice on if the plans are doable or not and if there are some things we need to add/remove. We are HUGE foodies, enjoy shopping, and are hoping to explore Japan and experience the culture as well. I have a lot planned (oops) and I am curious if people who go to japan typically leave time to return to their accommodation during the day or if most the day is ..read more

Hello all! Headed to Japan with my partner on my second visit and her first. We're very interested in gardens, spiritual activities, cultural events, food and drink, shopping for ceramics and other crafts, and, in general, exploring off-the-beaten path areas.
High-level questions:
Is there anything near us (shops, restaurants, town, etc) that you think we should consider visiting based on our interest?
Are there are places on the Nakahechi trail that you'd encourage spending a bit of time at? We'll be on a fast pace, but want to be mindful of places where we may want to stop.
We don't h ..read more

Visited Japan in March 2024 for 3 weeks (March 5 to March 28).
Tokyo (March 5 to March 12):
Ramen - Top 3 on the trip were Nakiryu, Kikanbo & Kagari. The chicken broth ramen at Kagari is so uniquely thick & creamy - I don't know how else to describe it without sounding like a porno - and also perfectly paired with an array of seasonal vegetables. The tantanramen at Nakiryu is bomb & Kikanbo if you want a cleansing spicier broth. Wait times for all but the queue system at Nakiryu was the best - you get a time slot from a machine outside and can then leave / return for your time.

I'm 21 M traveling solo to Singapore and Japan. I have already bought the tickets and have a rough sketch of what I wanted to visit while being there.
I wanted to ask for advice and opinion regarding my itinerary in Japan. I think I could easily add some more places to visit and if you look at the itinerary below I also have 2 days unplanned as well as unplanned days of transit to and from different cities. Days of transit I left unplanned on purpose not knowing how long it might take while keeping in mind that if I have strength and time for example after arriving in tokyo I'm gonna just mov ..read more

Hi! Going to Japan in late October/early November and wanted to see if there's anything I missed and absolutely have to see, or just some recommendations.
I've been to Japan 3 times already, although mostly Tokyo and the surrounding regions, so I'm unsure about travel times and how long to spend etc throughout Osaka especially.
We're 3 female travelers, one a first-timer (hence the Tokyo trip), and our main points of interest are culture and shopping. I'm not a big food person, but the others are, so if you have any recs (especially gluten-free ones), I'll gladly take them.
Also note there's ..read more

Tokyo is the ultimate city in the world for music, and if you are not checking out what's going on in the unbelievable number of livehouse music venues right under your feet, you're missing out on some of the most unique-to-Tokyo, exciting, and rich cultural experiences around. Get involved to meet new people, and enjoy night after night of original creativity and talent that you can only experience in this city.
I have already written a guide about how music venues work here and how to get involved in this exciting and ever-evolving scene. I also post upcoming shows that I think are worth ch ..read more
