Hi all I'm reluctantly selling my Rangy, & after a submission to BaT was denied recently, I figured I would post it here before it goes to a broker. As the title suggests, this is a real 2-door LHD model (pre-USA spec), which originally went to a buyer in France. Prior to delivery it went to Wood & Pickett in London & had a body & interior conversion including fender flares, side panels, air dam, bull-bar, color to black, recaros, all veneer trim panels, Wolfrace alloys, etc, etc, it was high-end. At the time it also had a very comprehensive rustproofing, & I have all of th ..read more

Fuel does not stay in carburator.

In a 1973 Series 2 I have to prime the carburator with a bit of fuel if the vehicle has been left sitting any more than a day or two. After that she catches and works fine. If left a couple of weeks she might have to be primed with extra fuel or primed twice. Any suggestions on where to start looking first ..read more

Front exhaust pipe install with Koenig front winch PTO shaft in place

I'm looking to replace a IIA 88 2.25 exhaust system on a Series with an original Koenig front winch that's driven by a front PTO shaft. The shaft runs forward and parallel between the frame and the block, towards the winch. I'm concerned the front/manifold end of the front exhaust pipe (with its sliding mounting ring) won't fit/squeeze up between the PTO shaft and the block, since that space is questionably narrow. I'd still have the same concern even if the install was attempted by feeding the front exhaust pipe downward through the engine bay vs. upward from under the truck. Looking thing ..read more

1971 Series IIA Restoration

Hello all, years ago I had a 66 IIA. I sold it to go to college. I regret selling that truck. This past weekend I bought a 1971 IIA. It needs lots of work. It's frame is shot and motor isn't running. The seller told me it ran when parked 4 years ago. We'll see about that. Anyway it's home now and in my shop. I pulled the plugs and felt for compression with my thumb. 3 cylinders had some sort of compression one had almost none at all. The good news is the body is straight and bulkhead seems to be mostly fine. Here we go! Malcolm Attached Images   ..read more

For Sale: 1973 Land Rover Ex-MOD Series III 109 with left hand drive. $25,000 USD, as is. No trades, cash only, serious offers only. It has been kept in a garage since 2007. I bought this Land Rover in January 2007 whilst stationed in Germany. It was refurbished by Liveridge 4x4 in Earls Wood, Solihull, UK. After many years, I have decided to part with this great vehicle since I just don’t drive it enough. This Landy got my wife and I through a Michigan blizzard one year. We had to go to a local Emergency Room during the snowstorm. Most of the time, I was in 2-wheel drive, and I only shifted i ..read more

Curious 'original' red canister in heater core hose line
Rovers North Forums

I'm curious what this cannister is for? (a couple pics were unfortunately auto-rotated by our host) Looks like an original item (possibly dealer installed). For some IIA 88" truck background, it was in Alaska 30+ years, as in cold location. Lower red hose connects to exhaust side of lower block coolant drain. Upper red hose Y's into the upper (top) heater core hose inlet near the core itself (ie: into same core hose from rear of head). There are also a few prongs on top of the canister beneath a small flip-up cap, and also prongs on side of block, as if a cable connected the two for the "Th ..read more

Maer Chassis Order

Hey folks, I'll be placing an order from Maer Chassis https://www.maer.com.pl/ in late May for myself and a few others. (88 & 109 coiler chassis) I'm trying to get a few more folks together to help keep the shipping cost low. I have room for 5 more chassis in the container if anyone wants to get in on the order. With a full container, the shipping to my shop in MD would run about $500 - $600 per chassis. Shoot me a message if you're interested. Thanks, Bob ..read more

Ignition Coil Replacement
Rovers North Forums
by WineCountryRover

Hi all, My ignition coil seems to be gone. The ohm readings for the primary resistance cannot hold at the proper spec for the coil on my petrol 2a. New one in the mail. The coil on my 2a is a BERU ZS 172 coil. Online searches say this it a "heavy-duty, high-energy coil," that is suited for 4 and 6 cylinder engines. It also says they produce a "strong, blue spark," suited for electronic ignitions (which also came with the Rover). My question is this: Should I go with a Lucas or similar coil to replace it, or would this coil be suited just fine for my engine? I had no issues with poor runni ..read more
