IPad Mount/Support in LR4 for use while driving/off roading

I increasingly hear that some of the better tools for navigation, etc are iPad apps. (No, I didn't use the PC term "tablet" because I am only an iPad person.) Has anyone found a particularly useful way to support or mount an iPad in their LR4 so that it can be used for navigation or off road work (or soon with the IIDTool) or for processing email while driving. Oh, wait, scratch that last one. If you see me doing that, run me off the road because I should be shot! Dan ..read more

Driver side window leaking > Window channel replacement method?
Land Rover World
by Michael Conley

Hey everyone, it's been a minute. Wife complained for water leaking into the cabin when getting the truck washed and it appears to be coming from the driver side window. Coincidentally I began noticing a bit more wind noise so most likely related. Confirmed by spraying the door with hose and noticed water dripping down the inside of the window and all over the seat. Door seal is intact. I've got the new window channel coming and was wondering if anyone has replaced theirs? I figure... Read more ..read more

Terrafirma Accessories

Thought I'd post something that might be of use to other members instead of my usual, "please help me". Put the the terrafirma roof rack, ladder, and tire carrier on my truck last fall. A few tips and tricks for anyone else out there. The roof rack comes with stainless hex drive bolts. Toss them aside and get some stainless bolts and beefy washers. Tightening down the hex drives is annoying and near impossible on one of the mounting points. For the ladder I put a small bit of Xpel... Read more ..read more

U3000-63 & "Park Aid Unavailable"

Installed the terra firma rear tire carrier on my '15 LR4 last fall and it would intermittently trigger the inner passenger side back up sensor. Fast forward to winter and I get "Park Aid Unavailable" with a very annoying beep at start-up. I just pulled the tire carrier and bumper off. I tested for shorts across all of the pins, nothing is shorted. Clearing the code does nothing, it immediately reappears. Because it says "algorithm failure" I think it needs to relearn stuff. Any... 2011 LR4 - preemptive coolant repairs
Land Rover World
by John Higgins

2011 LR4 with 130K miles. Had the front X-over and water pump done at 80K miles. (along with LR018275) Rear crossover done at 130K miles. While it was in there - my Indie shop recommended replacing a few more coolant pipes along with the radiator as a preventative measure. I'm doing the extra work myself and would like to address any weak points. There are no other leaks right now (apart from a seeping radiator) They mentioned a hose going to the thermostat as well as updated hoses (see... Read more ..read more

Valve Lifter Tapping

I own a Land Rover Discovery 2 Trail Edition 4. I purchased it from the original owner in 2008 with 77k miles on it. It now has 93k miles on it. Hence I only drive it about 1k miles a year (93k minus 77k divided by 15 years). It is a stunning example of a Land Rover Discovery 2!, silver exterior with black interior and chrome running bar. I bought it as a toy and usually take it up to Maine, Vermont, and Cape Cod in the summers. It has always had a very slight and... Read more ..read more

Is it a leaking passenger side valve cover gasket?

I am in the process of changing over most of the cooling system in my 2014 LR4 HSE LUX- my vehicle has about 98,000 miles, and I know this was done once before. Had a coolant “smell”, nothing visible, so just decided to be proactive and change everything. Front crossover pipe, Rear heater manifold, water pump, thermostat, and lots of hoses. On the passenger side of my vehicle I notice what looks like oil. It’s not dripping, but it’s just crusty... Read more ..read more
