Three Cuts - No Brainer / Coin Flip / Surprise

Cuts happen every year and typically I place them into three categories: No Brainers....these are typically your UDFAs...or guys that barely secured spots in prior years, but now with a bolstered roster and stronger position group there simply isn't a reason to keep them. Think Samori Toure now....this is also the McGough, Podlesny, Swinson, Stanley type guys spot too....some of you probably didn't even recognize those as names on our roster and that is the point. The word has come down on Christian Watson's injury. As you may recall, Watson has been undergoing evaluation and treatment of his ongoing hamstring injuries at the University of Wisconsin Madison since January, trying to determine what was making him so prone to them and whether anything could be done to make him less susceptible. Friday, it was revealed that one of the first things doctors learned was that there was a 22% differential in the muscle mass in his right leg and his left leg... Read more ..read more

Great start to the upcoming season. Near 100% attendance. Only player not there is due to a personal reason. Love what Love had to say about attending: "That’s just something that I’ve always done, trying to be here, get the reps in, get the work in with the guys and just start building that chemistry and getting ready for the season.” Setting such a great example and leadership we haven't had in GB for the last few years. Some made excuses for Rodgers, but not attending has an effect... Read more ..read more

Projecting Jordan Love in 2024

In 2023, Jordan Love played all 17 games and finished: 372/579, 64.2% completion, 4159 yards, 7.2 YPA, 32 TD (5.5%), 11 INT (1.9%) However, all Packers fans know that it was really the tale of two halves for him. In the first 9 games, Love was: 176/300, 58.7%, 2009 yards, 6.7 YPA, 14 TD (4.7%), 10 INT (3.3%) Over a 17 game sample, this extrapolates to: 333/567, 58.7%, 3799 yards, 6.7 YPA, 27 TD, 19 INT (a passer rating of 81) But if you look at the final 9 games (including the wildcard... Breaking Down the NFC North, 2024

The draft is over and rosters are (mostly) set. I want to take a stab at stacking up the various position groups in the division. As always, I strive to be objective despite my obvious bias as a Packers fan. Quarterback: The rest of the division finds themselves, once again, looking up at Green Bay at the most important position. Love clearly demonstrated elite traits and tons of growth last season. The future is very bright. Goff is a very good QB for Detroit, though I question how... Read more ..read more

Moving Up

On my way back from buying groceries tonight, I started to think about when Packers GMs move up in the draft. You pay a premium by bundling lower and/or future picks in order to draft somebody that you really feel is worth the premium. Below is a list of players drafted by Ted Thompson (2005-2017) and Brian Gutekunst (2018-current). TT was vindicated on 3 of 9 occasions - Clay Matthews, Morgan Burnett, and Casey Hayward. Batting 33% generally in the draft is below expectations... Read more ..read more
