We will be going to Paris in November for two nights on the way to a longer tour. We would like to see Versailles, Notre Dame and possible architecture, etc. Maybe somewhat close to the Seine. What are some good neighborhoods to consider for our stay? Is it worth it to find a driver/guide for one day? Thanks ..read more

We have booked hotels in Rothenburg, Innsbruck, and Rome in September. Travel by trains. I saw a post somewhere saying that going somewhere in Switzerland rather than Innsbruck had easier train options. I don't see that on the various train sites but maybe I'm missing something. Any thoughts on this? I'm thinking that Switzerland might be more interesting but then Innsbruck looks good too. We're not big museum/art fans, but like scenery and seeing the smaller towns. Thanks for any ideas ..read more

I'm excited to share that I'm graduating from the University of Michigan and plan to spend 16-17 days traveling around Europe with a couple of friends before diving into the Biotech industry. We're aiming for 14 days on the ground, with 2 days lost to travel. We're considering renting a car for a road trip, though we're still deciding on the exact cities to visit. Munich is a must for us. Our interests span Italy, Scandinavia, Germany, France, Spain, and the U.K for graduation gift trip. Here's some extra context: I enjoy hiking, small towns, authentic experiences, and nature-related activit ..read more

So far I'm interested in Belgium, Barcelona, Milan, Portugal looks beautiful, what about Budapest? Thoughts please. Thanks, Greg ..read more

Confused about Val Venosta/Vinschgau

We are considering four nights in Val Venosta/Vinschgau as the last stage of a month long Christmas trip. We will be arriving from Bormio, Italy and then continuing on to Zurich for departure. I've read that Silandro is the main town, but there are 13 other municipalities in the area. I am trying to find an apartment in Mals, which I incorrectly thought was the largest town, but I'm having trouble finding a place (we'll be there Dec 26-30 and I've just discovered that the area is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Sud Tyrol and is particularly busy in winter). I'm now simult ..read more

Large Group trip to Greece

We are in a similar situation - party of 25 hitting Greece in Jul/early Aug with kids - 6, 10 and a few teens. We're going to Mykonos for a couple of days instead of Greece. One question I had is wrt lunch and dinner options: 1. Is it very difficult to seat a large party together? Or did you split up into groups of maybe 6-8 and went to different restaurants? 2. Do restaurants typically have vegetarian options or we need to hunt for them? Some in the party are vegetarian, so just want to keep that in mind. 3. About a bus and a boat in Santorini. Does anyone have contact details for a provider ..read more

Which coastal town in Turkey??

My husband and I are looking for a coastal town in Turkey for early September and I'm all over the place. We're going from Istanbul to Cappadocia and then want to spend some time on the coast. We are looking for scenic, quaint charming and authentic area with beaches/swimming, great Turkish restaurants (toes in the sand dining would be a plus). We don't want big resorts or a modern area..we want to feel like we're in Turkey instead of any beach resort area. We'd like to have dinner and then possibly listen to some local live music, but not into clubs. We were looking at: Bodrum -too large/too ..read more

Planning Train Travel: Germany & Amsterdam

Hi everyone, My husband and I have booked all our hotels for our honeymoon in Germany this summer. We plan to travel by train and are looking for the most economical options. When I traveled around Europe in 2019, I used a Eurail Global Pass, but we no longer qualify for youth passes. We will primarily be in Germany with a four-day trip to Amsterdam. Should we book any passes or individual train rides? Are there regional passes we should consider? We prefer train travel for the scenery and relaxation but are open to flying or driving if it's more practical. Our itinerary: August 7: Arrive i ..read more
