It was the last week of school here, and there are pictures a-plenty. One last day capture: 11th, 9th, 6th and 4th. We decided to celebrate with some frozen yogurt/sorbet. Some in between runs weight workouts. A family lunch out….might be the only meal the whole week that we were able to have all together. Another ice bath with my B. She has requested one a week together. A little end of week couch pile. They had to get off very quickly after this because, wow, this is a lot of people! The kids had 2 weeks off of running, so I thought it would be good to also take 2 weeks. This was afte ..read more

With Mr. Serious out of town for a work trip, the ladies were flying solo for E’s track award ceremony. Her sisters came to cheer her (and coach mom) on! It’s a plus that they got some lemonade and a cupcake. Thankfully, one of the team kiddos took a group picture for us, too! Look at us all dressed up! Later in the week, I cleaned out my ice barrel and wanted to get in an ice bath (it helps with my anxious brain and helps with my restless legs). B wanted to get in, too, so she joined me. I left my phone far away, so no pictures in it, but after we got out, we dipped our faces a couple times ..read more

It was another running filled weekend. And once again, nobody is surprised. Saturday morning, we were up early for a local 5K. It was actually cool in the morning which was a nice treat. The oldest two were getting a little extra sleep and then headed off to the state track meet! One more picture at the starting line before go time. Admittedly, none of us were ready when the gun went off. They told us it was 5 minutes and then it was only 2 and they didn’t stay ready, or anything. It was a few seconds of chaos and dodging people, but we made it through. Mr. Serious ran solo and beat his tim ..read more

I hope you read that title like Rihanna sings it (maybe the clean version). This week was crazy and I think that E, B and me were the only “consistents” with dinner together. Otherwise, there was work, work dinners, babysitting or school responsibilities. It got to the point where I couldn’t even think about cooking, so rounded up everybody that was home and we went out to dinner. It’s wildly strange to only get a table for four! But, what remains is these girls still grab my phone and take pictures of themselves and us. Friday we were invited to the elementary school for the Terrific Kids a ..read more

The local high school put on an amazing weekend of Mean Girls musicals! Wow! So much talent. N and I went to see it Friday night and she went again to see it Saturday night with a friend. It was also nice that the theater was so full of students that were genuinely excited to cheer for their classmates and friends. Saturday morning we were up and ready for the last race of the season for middle school. E ran the 1660m and 800m and set new PRs for both of them and scored points for the team! And the girls got 2nd place overall, which is amazing because we only competed in 4 events! It was a ..read more

I had another trip around the sun celebration this week. Naturally, there were a few trips to some tracks, some races to be watched and some weekend runs to be had. When your kiddos are competing at the region race, you pull out the old state faces shirts and wear them to cheer. They sure do love it when we wear them, and so do their teammates, coaches and other parents. Because of all of the races and work schedule, I didn’t have some cake until Sunday afternoon. I requested German Chocolate cake which isn’t anything pretty to look at, but it sure tastes darn good. Later Sunday, we headed ..read more

It was definitely a busy week here. It seems that always happens with the last couple weeks of school and track season. Like many people in the US, we were able to see the eclipse. We had about 80-90% here and all went outside to have a look. Some of us like to make sillier faces than others. Mr. Serious was off to Arizona for a conference, but we all managed two days of back to back races, yucky weather and more. After the first day of the race where we got pretty drenched and N ran a 1600m, we came home and did some legs up the wall as instructed by her coach. I was happy she asked me to j ..read more

This past week was Spring Break and we didn’t really plan anything. We’ve found our better trips and vacations are around our February break and Fall Break. Of course it does feel strange with everybody else out and about. But it was nice taking a break from running… HA! Break! There were definitely no breaks. The oldest two had group runs everyday except Sunday, and the younger two ran three times. I also had three runs to get in. So, yeah, no running breaks, just no running pictures. The oldest had work, the next oldest secured work, and there was a lot of running around and going places, s ..read more

There were a lot of races over the last week. Friday night, the oldest two raced. N had a PR in her 1600, lettered and scored points for the team. The oldest ran the 4×800 and also scored points for the team. I volunteered at the race, so I got to see the girls run from the field. The girls team finished out the event in 1st place, so we took a trophy pic. Mr. Serious popped in and out of the race to watch other teammates run, so we got an end of the night pic with the four of us. Then, it was home (late, 11pm!) and had to get up early the next day. Why up early? Because we did it again and ..read more

E had a pretty big PR last week at her race, and because of that and the way she raced after skinning her knee (see large bandage a week later), shoulder and hip, the other coaches selected her as one of the runners to recognize. The other girl was out sick, so I did a stand in hand holding her gift card. Our middle school team had the week off for racing, but we still needed to get our respective runs in. Between races at the high school, N ran with Mr. Serious and I ran with E and B. Of course, we forgot to take our picture after the run, but grabbed one at home after warming back up a bit ..read more
