The next movie in the Predator franchise will reportedly be called The Badlands and will be set, according to reports, “sometime in the future”. Dan Trachtenberg returns from directing the last installment, Prey. After the absolute mess that was The Predator, it is fair to say that Prey benefitted massively from going back to basics in the execution. Of all the characters who seemed to be bowing out of the MCU with Avengers: Endgame, Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark seemed to have the most final of finales. According to reports on the financial wire last night, Paramount and Skydance were about to close their merger deal. This morning, CNBC and Variety are both reporting that Paramount has agreed on the deal and needs final approval from their major shareholder to put pen to paper. Normally these days, when a movie gets savaged by reviews, the standard approach in Hollywood is to blame somebody. Usually the fans, usually by attacking them as toxic or something. Refreshingly, that is not what Layer Cake and X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn has done with bad reviews for Argylle. The comedy thriller seemed to have all the right ingredients.
