Native's best kayak, and they don't even sell it as a fishing kayak

Native (Liquid Logic) Manta Ray Propel 12   4 months and over 70 days on the water with it.   I know this doesn't fit the current trend of ultra wide, slow kayaks that can carry 400lbs of gear, but this thing is a rocket ship.   Inshore, offshore, structure, reefs, wakes, wind, waves, current, you name it. It's fast, quiet, smooth and CHEAP!   Has an excellent mix of primary and secondary stability. No issues throwing a cast net from it in calm water, and no issues in 4 foot seas, which is beyond what I really want to fish anyway. Pulled a 6 foot nurse shark out of some pil ..read more

What an idiot, I left the front hatch on my hobie open.  Of course it rains.  The connection from the battery gets wet.  It did not get submerged.  What do I do now?  Hair dryer to dry it out,  WD40, dielectric grease combination of them or just let it dry naturally.  Help thanks Charlie  ..read more

Question for guys who fish long rods on their kayaks

How do you fix a tangled or line wrapped rod tip while on your kayak while using a long rod ? Some of the rods people use the reel would be off the bow of my kayak in the water.  Holding the rod perpendicular over the gunwales likely to dunk the reel. Standing up in some swell or wind to attempt to fix doesn't seem like a good time either.  ..read more

Good evening gents,   On my last outing braid wrapped around my Watersnake T24. When I removed the prop to cut the braid, the shear pin dropped off into the water. I’ve been searching around and can’t find one, or the size, to replace. Any help on locating a shear pin for this trolling motor would be appreciated ..read more

Recently got a Yakima Showboat 66 but still looking for something to add to my crossbars so I can roof top my Hobie Compass hill down (right side up).   Tempted to go the more affordable option and just get crossbar pads since the showboat gives me load assist but not sure if anyone’s had issues with Hobie hull fit with pads.   If so I’m thinking of something like the Yakima big catch. Anyone try this specific model?   yakima showboat:   Cross bar pads: Yakima Big Catch ..read more

I have been using an entry grade fish finder an eagle 168.  have been thinking about using a better one.  but one thing makes me think it's not a good idea.  The fish finder I have now has only one cable plug in, it is simple to unplug the unit when I take the kayak on my kayak trailer and go to the place I want to fish.  Better fish finders have more complex cable plug ins.  I take the fish finder off the boat when I put it away or travel.  I was wondering do you guys think it would be ok to travel (will road vibration hurt the unit) and leave the kayak in the ya ..read more
