Sewer line runs under neighbors yard!!!

I've got an aging sewer pipe that has backed up in the past because it has "bellies" and will need to be replaced at some point. I can manage the pipe by not putting a lot of paper down there, but I'd kinda like to rent the house out and upgrade and I'm sure renters cannot be expected to do this. So long story short is the pipe is going to need to be replaced sooner or later. The kicker is the line doesn't run to a main on either street (it is a corner house), neither street has a sewer... Plumbing for in-wall toilet

The existing toilet drain pipe is less than 3’ away so there isn’t any vent connection. Also, it connects straight to the stack. We wanted to install a wall mount toilet. I was wondering if the plumbing is possible. I would have to build out the frame to make room for the in-wall tank since I can’t move the vent pipe. Also, that’s an exterior wall so I wanted to build out to avoid freezing as well. But the question is, in order to do a wall mount toilet I would have to 90 that drain pipe and... Air in pipes after water heater replacement
DIY Home Improvement, Remodeling & Repair Forum » Plumbing

Greetings, I had my water heater replaced last week on Tuesday the 23rd. I understand it's normal for there to be air in the pipes and for the pipes to "spit" and be fairly loud while they are getting the air out of the system. This was happening a lot over the first 24 hours, but it is still occassionally happening a full week later. It seems to happen randomly, like when I flush a toilet that flushed fine the previous 10 times but all of sudden was "spitting" again. It happened at the... Read more ..read more

French Drain Questions

I could use a little advice on the installation of a French drain. I live in a small, 8-home cul-de-sac. I live at the back of the neighborhood. The driveway off the main road has a slight decline to it, so all the water ends up in a couple lakes 20-feet in front of my home. This is starting to damage the asphalt road. We have sanitary sewers, but no storm water drains. This is a private road inside city property, so they have no obligations to help here, even though each resident is billed... Read more ..read more

outdoor faucet is leaking out the handle and faucet opening. Want to replace both washers in the valve. Took off the handle and bonnet/packing nut. Go to unscrew the valve and can't get it out. It unscrews all the way till it gets to the opening. The opening in the faucet doesn't seem big enough for it to fit through. What am I not seeing here ..read more

Bathtub stopper is stuck

I have been using this bathtub stopper for years with absolutely no issues, but it got stuck yesterday and I cannot take it out. Look at the attached photos. Even though the stopper looks like an attached part of the tub, it is not a part of an overflow cover controlled mechanism. It is not attached to anything and how it worked was before filling the tub, I would put the stopper in place (like plastic stoppers), and after I am done, I would push the stopper with my finger on one end, and it... Outdoor faucet not secured onto the house

Hi everyone I have an outdoor faucet that is not screwed onto the house. As I turn the tap on/off, the whole assembly rotates a bit, about 15 degrees. The piping in the house is PEX, so there is some flexibility. Is this a concern, and does it need fixing? Thanks a lot! Paul ..read more

Hello, My bath tub faucet is dripping water. I was trying to replace the spring/seal. However, as I opened the top of the cover, I realized the chrome top/cover (see picture) is stuck. I cannot rotate it with hand. I even tried a branch without any luck. Any help on how to remove this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ..read more

Need help identify part and where to purchase

I'm not a plumber at all, so please excuse the novice question. I have a garden tub with a roman faucet (see image below). The left (hot water) faucet handle has a leak and I think the plastic cartridge part that the handle fits onto is what needs to be replaced. What is that part called? Can that part be purchased by a non-plumber? Or, do you need a plumbing license to purchase the part. Does the part have to be specific to the faucet brand, which I don't know what brand of faucet it is... Read more ..read more

Bought a house with an in-ground swimming pool...

Hello Folks, I purchased a house in Fort Wayne, IN, that happens to come with an in-ground pool. Pool was not really a requirement for me to buy the house, and I am not even into pools. Unnecessary to say, I know close to nothing about pools; but that it requires lots of attention and maintenance. The seller left somethings pool related, like a skimmer, a cover (I guess), a robot cleaner, etc. And the pool has some fixed equipment which looks like a pump and filtration system and what...
