Why do any people who trusts in their government so much? Can't they see to do things that are right without being parented by government being there? Do you need that? Statistics: Posted by FredVegrox — Thu May 30, 2024 1:28 pm ..read more

Given I took three flights last week in less than seven days, can I still call myself an environmentalist and an activist and tell other people to cut their emissions without being a hypocrite? I did take a lot of flights in the past for travel, family and work, especially from 2003 to 2015. In retrospect many of those flights were not really justifiable. I think that, generally speaking, that you should not take an action or make a decision that causes more pain and suffering to others that any benefit to yourself. So how do long-haul flights stack up against such an ethical framework? I ..read more

My latest blog is about how I can justify flying three times in a week while being an environmentalist that does a blog trying to convince others to cut their emissions. To see how I try to justify this, click here: https://www.veganforum.org/threads/i-fl ... eek.18546/ I found a lot of good vegan restaurants in Lima, Peru and one vegetarian restaurant once when I was too lazy to do a 15-minute walk to the vegan restaurant. However, I looked where the vegan restaurants are before booking the hotel. They were expensive by local salary and standards, but cheap by standards of a developed coun ..read more

Government really does get worse, it actually has to be guarded from that, or to say it another way, with having government the government is what has to be governed. Statistics: Posted by FredVegrox — Thu May 16, 2024 12:26 pm ..read more

There were problems rather than really significant benefits to wearing the masks for COViD. And the shots for COVID created problems, and in some cases death, while information on COVID deaths were with exaggerated numbers. Yet people generally are not willing to admit even to themselves that they have been had. There is less freedom for us and government is telling us more of what to do. I'm not talking about certainty; disproving solipsism is impossible, after all. I'm talking about likelihood. An unknowable probability should not be treated as 50/50 simply because you have only imagined two scenarios. This is the same issue Pascal's wager has. States do not equal to probability, and when you assert there are only two model-able states, you are inevitably wrong. For instance, the third state of the devil running the show in Pasal's wager itself. It is a way to model decisions and their consequences when you have to in approach to a particular state challenge, but that does ..read more

So @brimstoneSalad what would you say the best course of action is? As fond as I am of cocoa, I'm willing to give it up if it's a serious ethical concern. I usually never do, but maybe fair trade would be a better idea here? Or would that be worse in some way? Fair trade might be better. It would possibly be something good to look into for an article. I've heard more criticism of cocoa and coffee lately. Statistics: Posted by brimstoneSalad — Sun Apr 07, 2024 8:06 pm ..read more
