COMPTON (CBSLA) — Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies were in pursuit of a suspect wanted for an unknown reason on Saturday night, when a horrific car crash ensued, killing two and critically injuring one. Initial reports had indicated that the crash occurred in Compton, however the incident actually took place in Willowbrook. WILLOWBROOK (CBSLA) — The Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science in Willowbrook got a $50 million boost toward its new four-year medical degree program. WILLOWBROOK (CBSLA) — A man drowned Thursday after walking into the lake at Earvin “Magic” Johnson Recreation Area in Willowbrook. Shortly after 6 p.m., the Los Angeles County Fire Department was called out to the park in the 900 block of El Segundo Boulevard for reports of a missing swimmer. Passersby reported that a man walked into the lake, but did not return to the surface. A large crowd of people surrounded the lake in the early evening hours as the dive team searched for the man. WILLOWBROOK (CBSLA) — More vaccine sites are opening up in Los Angeles County to help get shots to underserved communities hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. “Thank God for the vaccine,” Gwendolyn Beck said. She recently got her first dose of the vaccine and on Wednesday drove her brother to Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital to make sure he got his second dose. “I would recommend it to everyone for their safety,” she said. WILLOWBROOK (CBSLA) – A woman was killed after gunfire erupted at a Willowbrook apartment complex late Tuesday night. Feb. 17, 2021. (CBSLA) The shooting occurred at around 11 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 13100 block of South San Pedro Street, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
