We get our hearts and kidneys from Sutcliffe Meats, they deliver to most areas in the Sydney Metro. Eyes we get from Dissection Connection. Statistics: Posted by spud — Fri Jun 14, 2024 4:23 am ..read more

I found a local butcher that can supply kidneys and hearts, but it did take time finding them. Scored a discount on them too as I told them I'm purchasing them for school dissections. I've purchased eyes from Southern Biological because I can't seem to find them at any butcher or abattoirs in my area. Statistics: Posted by Nads343 — Fri Jun 14, 2024 12:40 am ..read more

Its not just the excessive number of test tubes, but also the amount of horrible chemicals that you then have to dispose of. Are they doing the experiment individually, or with partners? Unfortunately they have to do it individually for their half yearly exams We're only going to use 5-6ml of each chemical per student to keep the disposal down, but I do need to schedule a chemical disposal soon anyway. For the future, I would recommend using the 12mmx75mm test tubes. They will only need a few drops of each instead of a few ml. You can buy the racks with tubes included from Wiltronics. Definitely excessive. I spoke to the teacher and she did confirm it was 60 test tubes per student but realised how difficult this will be, so we're going to modify the prac to half that of test tubes. I've ordered in some disposables to save some time (and my sanity!!!) Thank you so much guys! Statistics: Posted by Nads343 — Wed Jun 12, 2024 1:29 am ..read more

It might also be worth checking with the teacher that the request is correct and they don't mean 60 total for the 10 students, not 60 each. That sounds excessive! I agree. Get the teacher to clarify as it does seem excessive. But sometimes teachers think we can perform miracles. I mean, I know I'm good and all but... Also check that the chemicals aren't listed as "teacher only" on Riskassess (if you use that). That may make part of the prac a demo only. I’ll third that . It’s totally excessive . I’d also query the teacher on it . Ask to see a copy of the prac . Most are from a particula ..read more

Thank you so much, I will order them and hope they come in time. Otherwise I'll be scrubbing for days. I've triple checked and it's definitely 60 per student due to reliability tests Disposables are the way to go! Statistics: Posted by Nads343 — Tue Jun 11, 2024 5:04 am ..read more

Thank you Rosalie!! I'm afraid they might not come in fast enough (my school's ordering department takes a while to process) Disposable test tubes would be a great idea though! I'm not sure if plastic disposables are suitable for use of the above chemicals, would they be okay? If so, I think I may order regardless if they arrive in time They are still glass. I wouldn't want to be washing up those chemicals. Westlab has same day dispatch if ordered before 2pm from memory. Any chance you could fast-track it for WHS reasons?
