PFF’s 2024 bounce-back candidate for Falcons may shock fans

We are approaching the most highly anticipated Falcons season in quite some time following the acquisition of Kirk Cousins and the hiring of Raheem Morris. Atlanta finished 7-10 in each of the three seasons under Arthur Smith, but 2023 was far more disappointing than the others, leaving many to describe them as a talented yet underachieving roster. It’s Morris’ job to help the Falcons’ young pieces realize their full potential, and there are plenty that have yet to even sniff their ceiling, most notably the three top 10 picks in Kyle Pitts, Drake London, and Bijan Robinson. Pitts hasn’t come c ..read more

Falcons veteran named top post-June 1 cut, trade candidate

For the first time in my lifetime, the Falcons have a surplus of quality quarterbacks on the roster. With Michael Vick and Matt Ryan stabilizing the position for two decades, there’s actually been very little poor quarterback play in recent history. It’s just been the past couple of seasons the position has been pitiful. However, it was a long enough (and bad enough) stretch that Atlanta overhauled the position completely. The Falcons invested more money than maybe any club ever has in what is a high-end bridge signal caller in Kirk Cousins, giving the veteran $180 million over four years. In ..read more

Falcons may already be at a disadvantage against Steelers?

The NFL didn’t schedule the Falcons’ season opener against the Steelers by accident. The league offices know good and well what transpired a few months ago, pitting Arthur Smith against his former team. In his return to Atlanta, Pittsburgh’s new offensive coordinator will see several familiar faces, which is why Ross Tucker believes that the Steelers may have the advantage. “I also think that there’s a little bit of an advantage for the Steelers with Arthur Smith knowing the personnel in Atlanta as well as he does, being their head coach the last few years. Obviously, Arthur Smith really ..read more

Former Falcons standout named Jaguars’ best-kept secret

Kaden Elliss was named the Falcons’ best-kept secret by Bleacher Report, and a familiar face was named the Jaguars’ best-kept secret. Jacksonville Jaguars: LB Foyesade Oluokun How Oluokun hasn’t made a Pro Bowl or earned an All-Pro bid is a mystery not even Sherlock Holmes or Nancy Drew could solve. All the linebacker has done since entering the league six years ago is produce with nearly 820 total tackles. He led the league in back-to-back years with 192 in 2021 and 184 in 2022. Granted, last season was a down year with only 173 takedowns, which ranked just fourth in the NFL. Additionall ..read more

Should Falcons do this trade for Justin Jefferson?

The Falcons are gearing up for a highly anticipated 2024 campaign. After three 7-10 seasons under Arthur Smith and poor quarterback play, Arthur Blank moved on to Raheem Morris, who went out with Terry Fontenot in one swift offseason and fixed the most important position in the sport. The Falcons inked Kirk Cousins to a rich $180 million deal to seemingly be the highest-end bridge quarterback they could find as Michael Penix bides his time behind the veteran. The expectation is clear — win the NFC South. Anything less than a division title would be seen as a failure for Morris in his first sea ..read more

NFL insider sheds new light on Falcons QB dynamic

The Falcons shocked the NFL world when they selected Michael Penix with their top pick a little over a month after giving Kirk Cousins a $180 million free agent deal. Not only did it surprise the rest of the league, but the decision rocked Flowery Branch. The Falcons created a potential rift in the building. It’s not easy to balance a dynamic of a win-now, $180 million quarterback and the supposed next franchise quarterback. However, it seems that Raheem Morris and Terry Fontenot don’t have to do much mediating at all because Kirk Cousins and Michael Penix know their roles. According to Albert ..read more

Falcons games that fans should look forward to the most this season

For the first time in years, the Falcons have high expectations. It’s not good enough to just end their postseason drought; the expectation around Atlanta is they’ll win the NFC South for the first time since 2016. A lot of that has to do with Kirk Cousins and the $180 million veteran quarterback’s ability to elevate a talented, yet underachieving roster. Raheem Morris isn’t shying away from those expectations either. Atlanta’s new head coach has set the standard — winning the division. There’s a ton to be excited for as a fan, and here are some of the games I’m most looking forward to. Below ..read more

Pair of Falcons make PFF’s list of top 25 players under 25

The Falcons have invested heavily in their offense since Terry Fontenot arrived in Atlanta, spending four straight top 10 picks on a tight end, wide receiver, running back, and quarterback. Hilariously, that seems like the process of 13-year-old me on Madden building a team, but Fontenot is adamant about his process being the correct approach. Unfortunately, we won’t know how Michael Penix will work out for the Falcons for what could be a couple of seasons, but we should see immediate returns on the Kyle Pitts, Drake London, and Bijan Robinson picks. With Kirk Cousins and Zac Robinson in the f ..read more

Raheem Morris on Falcons culture following Arthur Smith exit

The Falcons love the word ‘ethos’ and have muttered it throughout the offseason, but it predates Raheem Morris. Terry Fontenot and Arthur Smith coined the phrase in regard to the type of player they wanted to acquire. The former regime placed an emphasis on the person as much as the player. No acquisition made that more clear than drafting Bijan Robinson over Jalen Carter in last offseason’s draft. Carter was regarded as arguably the top talent in the draft, but a string of off-the-field issues arose during the draft process, and it became clear that whoever selected the former Georgia defende ..read more

Falcons’ $21.5 million signing dubbed Atlanta’s “best-kept secret”

The Falcons spent pretty much all of their free agent dollars on the offensive side of the ball this offseason, headlined by Kirk Cousins. The veteran inked a $180 million deal, which was quickly followed by the signing of wide receiver Darnell Mooney, who agreed to a three-year contract to come to Atlanta. The Falcons have been relatively quiet other than those two acquisitions, but last offseason, Terry Fontenot spent the majority of his resources on the defensive side of the ball. To say those free agent deals worked out would be an understatement. Jessie Bates was the headliner last year ..read more
