Armstead release gives 49ers $18M in 2024 salary-cap space
“Armstead’s official release leaves the 49ers with approximately $25 million in 2024 cap space, per Over the Cap. That gives San Francisco the flexibility to either allocate those additional funds toward contract extensions for a key player like wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, or potentially roll a substantial chunk of it over to the 2025 season when the 49ers will have significantly less cap space to work with.”

We’re going to be getting our hopes up a lot until Week 1 it seems like
If there’s anything we here at Niners Nation love it’s when people talk about the San Francisoc 49ers. And I love it when they say good things about the 49ers. Seth Walder at ESPN did a deep tive into his analytics via ESPN’s Football Power Index and has the 49ers a favorites to win the Super Bowl. To make us all feel better (or in my case worse) he even called the 49ers the best team even if they didn’t win the Super Bowl in the 2023 season.

There aren’t many reasons to believe the 49ers won’t be in the postseason.
Once again, the San Francisco 49ers are projected to be amongst the best teams in the NFL for the 2024 season. ESPN’s FPI projections have the Niners with the lowest average draft position for next year.
Super Bowl. NFC Championship. NFC Championship. Missed playoffs. Super Bowl. That’s how the previous five seasons have gone for the 49ers, and the missed playoffs were because the team didn’t have a quarterback, among other various injuries.

San Francisco 49ers OL coach Chris Foerster also explained why he looks at traits and not athletic testing numbers
Everybody wants to know what the San Francisco 49ers think of their third-round pick, Dominick Puni, and his expectations for heading into his rookie season. Puni figures to compete with Spencer Burford—the most talented yet inconsistent right guard.
Puni was running with the second team at right guard early in OTAs. But that doesn’t mean he’ll be relegated to backup duty all season. Offensive line coach Chris Foerster explained what he liked about Puni com ..read more

Why 49ers potentially face difficult decisions at wide receiver
“If they ask me, invest in guys that touch the ball, guys that can touch the ball and score touchdowns,” Foerster said. “And then there’s a range of guys, second, third, fourth round, fifth round even, that we will find starting offensive linemen in.
“The fact that you can throw a short pass to Deebo, even though the right tackle’s getting beat, it ends up being a 60-yard touchdown. So, yeah, the right tackle ..read more

The 49ers offensive line coach broke down his thoughts for how the right guard battle could work out
The San Francisco 49ers seem to have a position battle on their hands along the offensive line, as they drafted Kansas’s Dominick Puni in the third round to compete with 2021 fourth-rounder Spencer Burford and veteran Jon Feliciano, who each spent time at right guard last season.
While Burford began the year as the starter, Feliciano eventually worked into the fold and took the full-time job as the season went along, as his experience proved to be key.

San Francisco 49ers WR Jauan Jennings finds a way to make his presence felt whether he’s being targeted or not.
The San Francisco 49ers gave wide receiver Jauan Jennings a new contract on Wednesday, which Jennings earned. An outsider may look at his stats and wonder why in the world you’d pay a wide receiver who only had 19 receptions and one touchdown in 2023.
Anybody familiar with the Niners understands Jennings’ value. Who better than star tight end George Kittle to explain what Jennings brings to the table:
