Saturday evening starts with building clouds, but we stay dry through midnight. As a frontal boundary moves closer, we'll start to see our first rounds of showers arrive during the early morning hours on Sunday. BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) -- Leaders of both the Raleigh County GOP and Raleigh County Democrats on Friday, May 31, 2024, reacted to former President Donald Trump's conviction on 34 felony counts related to "hush money" payments in New York.
Raleigh County GOP President Julie Kominsky said she believes the verdict is unjust.

RAINELLE, WV (WVNS) - The popularity of Pickle Ball is growing by the day, and the town of Rainelle is hopping on the bandwagon
Pickle Ball courts are being added to the Greenbrier Hills Golf and Tennis Club.
8 pickle ball courts are in the planning process.
Tenants forced to evacuate after flooding issues at Morgan Manor Apartments
The tennis courts will be remodeled, and the pickle ball courts will take their place.

HINTON, WV (WVNS) - McDowell, Summers, Calhoun, and Randolph counties are getting a chance to step into the potential future of school transportation.
Paint date night hosted by Summers County ARH Hospital
All four of these counties are receiving $2 million, which will be distributed, from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to purchase an electric school bus.

BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) -- In the late 1990's and early 2000's, the stimulant methamphetamine was new to southern West Virginia, and dealers were making it in residential neighborhoods from commonly used cold medicines.
The so-called labs presented an explosion risk and required professional clean-up.
Beckley Police Lieutenant Jason McDaniel explained on Friday, May 31, 2024, that meth labs are no longer a problem, but methamphetamine use is still rampant in southern West Virginia.

Tonight features partly cloudy skies and it's not as cold with temperatures dipping back into the upper 40s. There is no risk of frost tonight even in the mountains.
Saturday continues the nice weather, however, with high pressure shifting off to the east, we’ll pick up a southerly breeze that will crank temperatures to near 80 degrees.
