LONGMONT, Colo. A 27-year-old man was shot to death during a confrontation in a Longmont neighborhood late Thursday night. According to the Longmont Police Department, officers were called out to the 4000 block of Hawthorne Place around 11:28 p.m. Thursday for reports of a shooting. NIWOT, Colo. A Niwot 5th grader is preparing to take the stage in the 2024 Scripps National Spelling Bee. Cooper Edwards, 11, will represent Niwot Elementary School at the national spelling bee competition, which takes place May 28 through May 30 in National Harbor, Maryland. LONGMONT, Colo. Two Longmont police officers were placed on paid administrative leave Wednesday after they "attempted to use lethal force" against an alleged domestic violence suspect. According to the Longmont Police Department, officers were called out to the 1300 block of Coffman around 1:37 p.m. for reports of domestic violence. The groundbreaking on Berthoud's first adaptive park is scheduled for May, according to an announcement Wednesday. "Earlier this year the Town of Berthouds Board of Trustees voted unanimously to use a cap of $650,000 of uncommitted park development and improvements funds toward the project," the announcement said. A 45-year-old man wanted for alleged possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) was arrested after spending a year on the run, the Boulder County Sheriff's Office announced Wednesday. LONGMONT, Colo. A man is dead after a fight ended in a shooting outside a speakeasy in Longmont early Friday morning. The shooting happened shortly after 12:30 a.m. Friday outside the Speakeasy Bar and Venue located at 301 Main St. in Longmont. Two people had engaged in a verbal and physical altercation after having just left the venue prior to the shooting, according to police. A Longmont police officer shot an armed robbery suspect in Weld County Monday night, the agency said in a news release Tuesday morning.
