OCEAN CITY, Md. – The Ocean City Beach Patrol’s 2nd academy class started training Monday.
Recruits reported in the morning, where they were instructed on policies, procedures, and expectations.
Then they took to the beach for their 400 meter ocean swim test and 100 meter beach run test, which they’ll be performing multiple times throughout the week.
Recruits will get on-the-job experience with training instructors this weekend before taking the stand alone for the first time next Monday.

SALISBURY, Md – Volunteers have been out and about in Salisbury Maryland, and Georgetown Delaware.
Due to the upsurge in homeless individuals, in Salisbury and surrounding areas. Shelters have been helping out daily.
The Sheperd’s Office in Georgetown is offering free dinner and clothes donations every day.
Michelle Duncan, who had to be placed in a Delaware hotel after spending time in Rehoboth Beach, says her time at Sheperd’s office has been incredible.

MARYLAND – 2023 was a record year for oysters in the state of Maryland.
According to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, it saw the most bushels ever harvested by the state’s aquaculture operations, at over 94,000.
Commercial oyster farming has been growing year-over-year in Maryland, with watermen diversifying their traditional commercial fishing businesses, and new entrepreneurs entering the space as demand continues to grow.

OCEAN CITY, Md. – With summer in full swing, residents and tourists alike are flocking to the beach in Ocean City.
Between the sand, the surf, and the sun, there are some serious safety hazards at the beach that can be easily overlooked.

SALISBURY, Md. – As the weather warms, severe storms are near and a local power company wants you to be careful in case of an outage.

OCEAN PINES, Md. – In Ocean Pines, police are asking drivers to pay extra attention to speed limits.
Ocean Pines Police Chief Tim Robinson says his department has been receiving calls, Facebook messages, and emails about speeding drivers. He adds that recent accidents were caused by distracted drivers behind the wheel under the influence.

MARYLAND – Pocomoke Library has been issued a $3.9 million grant to help with new construction and expansion, and Worcester County Commissioners are set to replace the aging building as early as 2025.
