ROCK HILL, S.C. — Rock Hill cardiologists have hit a milestone this year by completing 50 patient implants, putting a device called a watchman into peoples hearts. The watchman device is no bigger than a quarter but it’s impact is huge. Doctors say this device can help to treat AFib, also known as atrial fibrillation, and can put a stop to blood clots. CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Fire Department is conducting an investigation after a two-story house went up in flames on Wednesday night in north Charlotte. It happened around 9 p.m. at a home on Clooney Lane near University City Boulevard.  When firefighters arrived, they could see the fire shoot from the roof of the house. ABINGDON, Va. (AP) — A South Carolina man pleaded guilty to federal charges Wednesday in the shooting death of a police officer in southwest Virginia in 2021. Michael Donivan White, 36, of Cross, South Carolina, had already pleaded guilty to first-degree murder charges in state court. The federal counts include drug charges and causing the death of a person with a firearm. The plea deal requires the judge to sentence White to a term of 40 to 100 years.
