YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Police are on the scene of another homicide on Youngstown's west side in the 100 block of South Maryland Avenue. Details are not yet available. Police had another homicide about 10:10 p.m. Wednesday at Salt Springs Road and Steel Street. This is the 12th homicide in Youngstown and fourth since Sunday. Last year Youngstown had 22 homicides. Local man retires after half-century in education

SALINEVILLE, Ohio (WKBN) - A lifelong career in the classroom comes to an end as a Southern Elementary School guidance counselor retires after 50 years. Larry Rudloff always looked forward to summer break. "It kind of re-energizes you over the summer and get ready for the next school year," said Rudloff. NILES, Ohio (WKBN) - After a big five-run 1st inning, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers piled it on the State College Spikes for a 16-3 blowout win on Wednesday night. The Scrappers' offense exploded for five runs in the opening inning and nine runs through three to take a commanding 9-1 lead. Mahoning Valley scored in each of the first six innings, capped off by a Garrett Pike grand slam in the 6th to make it 15-2. Pike finished 3-for-5 on the day with seven runs batted in. YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) - FirstEnergy held an open meeting Wednesday to discuss new plans for high-tension wires through parts of Downtown Youngstown. The state denied a previous plan for the wires two years ago. Now, the new plan gives multiple options to the project with new routes. In Youngstown, two FirstEnergy substations sit about 10 minutes apart. The first is near B&O station and the other is in Lincoln Park. Road work continues on State Route 39

SALINEVILLE, Ohio (WKBN) - Road work continues on a stretch of State Route 39 in Columbiana County. ODOT kicked off a multi-phase project to completely replace the road from Salineville to Highlandtown. The project rehabilitates 4.5 miles of State Route 39 removing the existing concrete pavement and replacing it with new asphalt. Currently, 39 is closed from State Route 164 to Clarks Mill Road and will remain closed for 60 days. ODOT says the road has reached the end of its lifespan and needs a complete rebuild ..read more
