Some Kind of Brown Podcast

I'm still here! It's been a wee bit, but I'm still here and working on getting back to normal. This week we have a surprise guest who is helping me keep it light and fun for this episode. November is here and I have news about Red November. Last year's project was something I'd hoped to continue and expand on this year, but two of my doctors have shut me down. I still have plans to talk about National Native American Heritage Month as much as I can, so let me know if you have anything you'd want to hear or have me share this month. I hope you're all doing well!! ??? Natalie More of Some Kind o ..read more

I know it’s cheesy, but what would it really be something from me if I didn’t stick something like that in here? This is a lot more chill than I usually am and especially a more chill topic. Let me know if you like these kinds of stories and what kinds of content you’d like to help us bring some light and joy into every month. I hope you’re well and I’d love to hear your stories about growing up! ??? Announcement: Lightning Bugs
Some Kind of Brown Podcast
by Natalie Evans
1y ago
2020 Has been wild and hasn't shown any signs of slowing down. I've been thinking of what I can do with all these things coming back to back while also being mindful of myself. I've shared so many experiences I've had that were tough and shaped who I am, so I thought I'd share some stories of things that were beautiful about my childhood. The world isn't black and white and I hope to hear any stories you have of when you were growing up that are happy or really stick out in your mind. Hopefully, these little happy lightning bugs will carry us through whatever comes at us this month. ??? Natali ..read more

65 - Two Whole Years and So Many Things
Some Kind of Brown Podcast

How has it already been 2 years?? There's so much going on that I wanted to talk about and I definitely couldn't get to it all in this episode! Between the podcast and the new youtube channel, I hope I'll be able to get everything out to you soon! Before that though, let's touch base! I am seriously so proud to have you as friends and listeners as we navigate this new political climate. No matter how you've spoken out against the injustices in the world and especially with BLM, I really admire the courage and compassion I've seen! I hope you enjoy this episode and will be with me as we take a ..read more

64 - Where I've Been and Where We're Going
Some Kind of Brown Podcast
by Natalie Evans

Well, it's only been a few internet years! So far 2020 has been a school of hard knocks and I can't say how much support I've felt from those of you who have listened, mentioned me, or reached out. Getting to this mental point is something I don't have experience with and I'm sorry for taking so long to come back. I hope this is a window into my journey right now and that you'll join me as I come back slowly, but surely. Those of you are listening have helped me come back more than I can articulate. 60 - The Politics of Whiteness in America with Feminists Without Mystique
Some Kind of Brown Podcast
by Natalie Evans

It was so good talking to Maria and Erin from Feminists Without Mystique! We talked today about something I've really wanted to talk about when I found the right people. Maria and Erin approach the topic of Whiteness in our current US context with grace and a little humor. It's a super nuanced topic, but one that needs to be talked about! Don't forget we still have buttons and stickers still available! 56 - My Problem with Goop as Someone Reconnecting
Some Kind of Brown Podcast
by Natalie Evans
1y ago
Are you a little shocked by the fact I'm talking about Goop or The Goop Lab Show on Netflix? It actually came at the perfect time when my brain was already coming to grips with some aspects of reconnecting with my Native culture. This is probably the topic I'm most shy about, which might not make sense with the episode posted two weeks ago, but give this episode a listen and you might understand why. If you have been experiencing something similar, please let me know on any of my social media! It can't just be me out here!
