Hello- happy Friday everyone! I am so excited to write this post because it’s one that’s near and dear to my heart. I always shock people when I tell them: 1. I’m 24 (I look like a middle schooler) and 2. I’m a 24-year old who can crochet. The look on people’s faces every time I say those words, is absolutely priceless! It all began when I was 7 years old. I spent every summer on my grandparents’ farm where I learned so many things people back home in the city didn’t know how to do: fish, farm, ride a tractor, boil an egg, shuck corn, drive a Honda Big Red 3-wheeler, and so much more. One par ..read more

Tips for Planning a Successful Bachelorette Trip

Planning a Bach trip can be a lot of fun, but it can also be a headache if you don’t get your ducks in a row ahead of time. I am the Maid of Honor in my friend’s wedding coming up at the end of April, and am in charge of planning the Bach trip. Tip no. 1: Plan ahead The bride wanted to go to the beach and stay in a house, so that’s what we’re doing! Usually the bride doesn’t get much of a say-so in the planning, but it was the one thing she requested, so that was okay- even though it was pricey (geez Louise). The Bach trip is in April, prime spring break time, and things book fast! So ..read more

St. Patrick’s Day Feast

The day of green and shamrocks is almost here. A day of celebration for Saint Patrick and Christianity in Ireland. Whether you are Irish, Catholic, or neither, it is a day to celebrate and recognize the importance of this day to those who cherish it dearly. While moms and housewives everywhere are preparing their perfect homemade, made-from-scratch dishes, I’m thinking Lucky Charms and milk should get the job done lol. I’m a traditional southern cooker, so creating fancy dishes that are green are a little out of my territory. Plus, Andy doesn’t like pretty rainbow fruit trays, all gree ..read more

Kids all over are wrapping up their week long celebrations. What have they been celebrating, you ask? Why, National Read Across America! Better known as Dr. Seuss week! Andy and I were so privileged yesterday to experience just how important this week really is. We were asked by Andy’s cousins David and Candice to be a secret reader to their son, Ian’s, pre-school class. How exciting, right? There were no particular theme or instructions to follow, we just needed to keep it a secret from Ian and bring our favorite books to read to the class. Of course, we decided immediately on farm ..read more

The time is almost here for us to go on the bachelorette trip! I’m the maid of honor and have been planning this for months. All of the budgeting, shopping, Pinterest-ing, and planning has almost paid off! I could definitely use the vacay, that’s for sure. It’s such an exciting time in my friends life, and I’m so happy to have gotten to plan this trip for her. Yes to the beach, yes to the sunshine, yes to GIRL TIME! *Insert Shania Twain “Let’s Go Girls” background music!* The only thing that concerns me about this trip is the limited amount of space I get for my luggage LOL. I usually ..read more

Trying out my green thumb

Hello! If you’ve stopped in today to read, you must be interested in trying out your green thumb too! That’s great news- I would love to do this thing together! When I was little, I would garden with my mom. We would plant a few veggies in the backyard and flowers in the front flowerbed. But that was a long time ago and I haven’t since gardened, so my knowledge of gardening is slim to none. I love to keep live flowers in my house, but they don’t stay alive very long. Bummer! But, being with a farmer, I have a pro plant grower! Andy and I had been talking about planting flowers and garden ..read more

I’ve said it a hundred times and I’ll say it again: my favorite time of year is approaching! I cannot say it enough- okay, maybe I have, but I’m so excited. Pastel colors, happy vibes, the beginnings of a tan- what’s not to love? I am the type that needs constant sunshine & warm weather for my mental health to be at its best. I thrive in the Spring and Summer time mainly for that reason- I’m happiest outside working on something in the yard (or riding in the tractor lol). I have started on a few Spring decorations outside, a couple Spring DIY projects, and have began planning for pl ..read more

Back in August I found a litter of kittens under the house. A few months went by and the basement kitties because the porch kitties. There was one that we knew would not make it as an outside cat. She always stayed on the porch, never ventured far, didn’t go mouse hunting, and was far too sweet for life in the wild. I brought her inside a week before Christmas and she’s been an inside cat ever since. We finally decide on a name- Cotton- but she also answers to “Kitty Kitty”. We love having her and cannot wait to introduce her to my cat back home, Sassy. I always said Sassy would be my one ..read more

My jewelry box is in order, so my life must be, too…right?

I have always struggled with organizing my jewelry. I wear the same watch, bracelets, and rings most of the time, so I just plop them down on the dresser when I get done for the day. But, as I’ve gotten older and bought precious jewelry, I knew I needed a safe place to put my favorite pieces. I tried a few jewelry pouches that doubled as easy travel pieces, but they weren’t appealing to the eye sitting out on the dresser. I also have a ton of necklaces, costume jewelry, and earrings, but have just always kept them in a clear, fishing lure case (lol). But, hey it worked! I just never inves ..read more
