Pump cavitation in industrial processes is pretty common. Understanding what causes cavitation in pump and how to avoid it is the main goal for this post. Pumps are valuable engines that facilitate the transfer of fluids from point A to point B. The liquid being transferred through a pump may enter the pump when it is at its bubble point or vapor pressure. Pump cavitation occurs when vapors are being trapped inside the impeller. As the fluid enters the pump, there is a pressure drop. If this pressure drop allows the fluid to drop below its vapor pressure or boiling point, the fluid will start ..read more

Distillation is one of the main process equipments of the chemical industry. It is an effective separation process that has existed for centuries. Understanding the general principles of distillation is a crucial part of being successful in distillation troubleshooting. Distillation is a separation operation that employs liquid and vapor phases at the same temperature and pressure for the coexisting zones. Distillation columns are composed of trays or plates and random or structured packings. These various devices (trays, plates, random packings, and structured packings) facilitate the intimat ..read more

Benzene is one of the primary aromatic building blocks for the petrochemical industry. Learning about its technology, how it is used and made is the primary focus of this post Generally known as a potential carcinogen, benzene is one of the primitive building blocks for the petrochemical industry. It is used in the synthesis of other, valuable chemicals, such as styrene which is used in the production of latex, synthetic rubber and polystyrene resins, plastic packaging, building insulation, cups and containers, etc. Benzene is alkylated with ethylene to give high purity ethylbenzene. Ethylbenz ..read more
