? 1 IDEA FROM ME
Everybody wants to improve the quality of their sleep, and many of us also wish we could fall asleep more quickly. For about two years now I have been doing 3 things every night to make both of those desires a reality. Below is what they are and how you can implement them too.
1. Get ready for bed before it's time for bed
On a typical night at home, right after dinner I floss my teeth, take out my contacts, change my clothes, pick out my clothes for the next, and make my lunch. This means when it ..read more

? 1 IDEA FROM ME
Never underestimate the importance fun plays in accomplishing anything.
If you’re miserable, you’ll quit (often before you experience any real progress).
At the same time, you must define what fun is for you. I remember one day as a kid playing a game of soccer with a small ball and two mini-goals on the driveway with one of my friends. He kept coming up to my goal to try and score. I stayed in front of the goal and whenever I got the ball just kicked it from my goal to his open goal and often sc ..read more

? 1 IDEA FROM ME
Because motivation comes and goes, if you want to do something consistently, pick a level of difficulty that only requires a little motivation. Make it easy.
If you want to get better at an instrument, make it a goal to only practice 10 minutes a day
If you want to build muscle, make it a goal to only do 5 push-ups every day
If you want to deepen your faith, make it a goal to only read one chapter of the Bible a day
Will any of those things dramatically change your life? Certainly not at first. B ..read more

? 1 IDEA FROM ME
You must live with your mistakes, but no rule says you must compound them.
To follow a poor decision or a lapse in judgment with a foolish reaction means you’ve now lost not once, but twice. This makes course correction even harder. After all, you’ve already blown it multiple times so why not just give up and start over another some other time?
The better course of action is to assess the error and ask yourself, “Given what just happened, what is the best next action I can take?”

? 1 IDEA FROM ME
Increasing the odds in your favor is the key to finding success.
So how can you make the odds more favorable? The best way is to keep showing up.
The more you try, your odds increase:
The more you practice piano, the better you’ll be able to play the song
The more you avoid processed foods, the more weight you can lose and the better you’ll feel
The more pictures you take, the better chance you have one you’ll like
The key is not giving up. You can’t run a marathon by only training for a week. My ..read more

? 1 IDEA FROM ME
The primary reason we don’t do things is not because we don’t have enough time. Instead, it is because of one of two reasons:
I don’t have enough energy
I’m not actually interested in doing this
Rather than trying to justify our lack of accomplishment in a particular area (you haven’t read enough, or built a certain skill, or gotten healthier in a certain area), it is better to be honest about what is going on.
If you don’t have enough energy, are you willing to change your lifestyle or certain inputs to make it happen? Is it really that you don’t have enough time, or th ..read more

? 1 IDEA FROM ME
The best results often come from average effort that stays committed for an above-average amount of time.
To be great at something, especially in an age where everyone is “busy” because they are so distracted, you just need to be willing to stick with it longer than most people would.
You don’t have to read fast to read a lot of books, you just need to keep reading
You don’t have to draw the best pictures as a kid in your 3rd grade class, you just need to keep drawing when everyone else stops or moves on to something else
You don’t have to work out 2 hours a day, 5 days ..read more

? 1 IDEA FROM ME
You can’t optimize what you don’t start.
It is much easier to start small and imperfectly than to have a perfect start. It is starting that’s the hard part. You can spend so much time trying to research and figure out everything up front that you never actually start. The best way to learn is to do.
If you want to get in shape, start with an imperfect workout plan
If you want to learn pottery, start with an online video and subpar but accessible supplies
If you want to bake the perfect cake, you have to bake a bunch imperfectly to learn what not to do
Once you start, y ..read more
