The Art of Growing Through Practice

We stopped for a moment after church yesterday to catch up. I’ve known Jessie for years and watched her grow up from a distance at the church I once worked at. But what really solidified our friendship is that we became small business owners together. We both have a love for writing, coaching women to be who God created them to be, and to live intentionally. We also both love using the Enneagram and maybe we get along because we belong to the pragmatic triad together (3, 6, & 9). As we chatted about setting up signs at our church, the conversation meandered to our businesses, social media ..read more

The Do's and Don'ts of Narrowing Down Your Enneagram Type

When it comes to using the Enneagram to grow in your faith, the most important thing to focus on is identifying your type. Why you may ask? It’s not to know that you know your type, or even to be able to call out a number with confidence the next time you chat with friends about it. The reason it’s important? Because each type has their own individual growth path. And if you and I want to use the Enneagram to grow, then we need to narrow down that type. The chief issue with narrowing down our type? It can be confusing. Most people who discover their type and know for sure which type they are ..read more

How to love each Enneagram type on Valentine's Day

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, which got me thinking about you and what your thoughts are on celebrating. For some, Valentine’s Day feels like a Hallmark holiday and may choose to avoid celebrating all together. For others, we love celebrating love — even when we’re single. Personally, bring on the chocolates, flowers, and red hearts…just this once. The best gift we can give our people on Valentine’s Day True confession. While I love all that stuff and being festive, all the chocolate and nice dinners in the world don’t always show love. Sometimes it feels like more stuff and a way ..read more

Gentle Steps for Each Enneagram Type in 2021

I don’t know about you, but this year just feels different. The way I stumbled across this for myself was doing the things I always do at the start of a new year. Choosing a word. Setting big goals for the year. Working my planner (by the way, if you need one — I highly recommend Sol Planners). But after I did all those things that I usually do, something just felt flat. Truth be told, I wasn’t ready for those big goals or intense focus. A lot happened in 2020. And as of this writing, a lot happened in the first two weeks of 2021. And if you feel like big goals and getting back into the hustle ..read more

A new look at choosing your word for 2021

If you’ve been around here for any length of time, you probably know that I’m a fan of this word for the year business. I discovered My One Word over 6 years ago and I immediately dumped the yearly resolutions for a one word focus. Enter 2020. I picked a word last year like I always do. But….for the life of me I can’t remember what it was or even what I did with it before we knew what COVID was and what happens during a stay at home order. To be honest, this hasn’t deterred me. I still picked a word for this year. Until… Turning our One Word on it’s head In choosing my one word, I had been th ..read more

Whether we feel prepared or not, Christmas is upon us. If you’re anything like me, Christmas kind of sneaks up on me. Every. Single. Year. But if we’re honest, this year is different, isn’t it? This year has been unlike any other and for many of us Christmas just looks different. For some, we’re not traveling, or seeing family, or buying as many gifts, or even working. So how do you and I find hope this Christmas? The short answer? The same way we always have. Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. I cling to that when life feels out of control, and I’m betting you do too. But for th ..read more

This hopefully is not a newsflash, but Thanksgiving is this week. In a year where what normal is has drastically changed. In a year when we may be grieving a loss. In a year when we may have lost jobs, normal routines, and even going to church regularly. In this year, it’s important that we choose to be thankful. Thankful for God’s goodness. Thankful for the gift of each day. Thankful for God’s love. Thankful for our home and other provisions. And most of all, thankful for our people. What I love about the Enneagram One of the things I love about the Enneagram is the self-awareness it brings ..read more

Enneagram 2s: Seven things you need to know (Copy)

When I first stumbled upon the Enneagram, I had no idea what to think. I mean there are nine different types or lenses through which we see the world and if that’s not enough, you can go deeper with wings, and arrows, and subtypes. In my own personal journey, when I applied the Gospel to the map of the Enneagram, I found a tool that helped me build self-awareness of where I was at, identify what was holding me back in becoming who God made me to be, and the steps to take to build thriving and strong relationships with God, myself, and others. All of that to say, I think it might be helpful ..read more
