My name is John Kallal. I'm a full-time business banker by day, photographer and foodie by night. I've been traveling a lot these last few years and hope to grow and explore all that Austin Texas has to offer. I enjoy meeting people and establishing new friendships. When I'm not working I'm eating and when I'm not eating I'm exploring. It's a wonderful world and its..

This past weekend I was fortunate enough to be invited by my buddy Sav, that runs the Menuette app (@finddeliciousfood), to do a short 4 to 5 stop BBQ Tour. We decided to hit 4 spots that don’t typically have wait times longer than 10 minutes with out sacrificing quality of meat and preparation. Photos provided by https://www.finddeliciousfood.com/
These locations included:
Brotherton’s Black Iron BBQ (@pftxbbq)
Kerlin BBQ (@kerlinbbq)
Rollin’ Smoke ATX (@rollinsmokeatxbbq)
JNL Barbecue (@jnlbarbecue)
Brotherton’s Black Iron BBQ

Located just north of downtown Austin Texas, lies a gem of a restaurant called China Family. It is located at 6801 Airport Blvd, Austin Texas 78752.
When you first step into the doors of China Family restaurant, you feel just that, part of the family. There were many smiling faces enjoying food and beer. The interior of the restaurant along with the menu feels like it came straight from China and you are greeted with a smell of fresh Chinese food. And this actually smells good (no Panda Express here).
I was greeted by the owner, Sonny, who lights up the room with his generosity and kind ..read more

I’m not going to lie, when I first moved to Austin, I wasn’t sold. I was stuck in an introverted mind set in a city full of extroverts. If you feel like you need more depth to your life like I did and want a fun way to meet new people, I highly recommend joining Better Off Bowling.
This bowling league is not your normal bowling league. It is held on different nights throughout the week and is held at High 5 off Anderson Lane in Austin Texas. If you’ve never been to High 5 click the link to see the yelp reviews and photos. If you want to drink, they’ve got a full bar. If you want to e ..read more

Have you ever heard of Austin Restaurant weeks? Being new to Austin, i’m learning about so many cool events and companies that give back to the Community. One in particular, Central Texas Food Bank. According to the Austin Restaurant Weeks website, for all the food purchased during those two weeks, at participating locations, are using a portion of the proceeds to help feed the hungry. Now, being ATXFOODBEAST, I need to get involved. Below is a list of restaurants that are participating along with a link to Central Texas Food Banks volunteer schedule. So I’ve officially lived in Austin Texas now for 5 months and the only thing on my mind has been College Roadhouse ATX. Now, from what I could see on Instagram, this isn’t a place you go to alone. I am sure they would serve you and show you a great time, but this experience is best served with friends.
Photos Below!!!
When you first pull in to the parking lot of College Roadhouse, you look around and see how multicultural the area is. There is a Mexican Video store to the left and a place you can get your Weave done and purchase hair to the right, but as soon as you step your foot i ..read more

Getting to try the “Playboy” for the first time at Rollin’ Smoke Austin, TX.If you are a BBQ aficionado, Rollin’ Smoke is a must try in the 512. It’s situated on East 6th street about one mile east of the 35 freeway. This part of the town is what people call “gentrified” so there is a lot of culture surrounding the food truck. Many of the buildings have graffiti on them and there are nice restaurants and dive bars across the street.
Less on the area more on the food.
Rollin smoke just upgraded their food truck and quality by adding a top of the line BBQ smoker. The way the meat is charre ..read more
