Psalm 61:1-2 “Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. From the ends of the earth I call to You, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” I just drove out of my neighborhood and the tire alarm went off in my car. I turned around and by the time I got back to my house which was a very short distance, my tire was completely flat. A huge piece of metal was sticking out – I was not expecting this problem so early in the morning. This was a small issue compared to other people’s unexpected complications. Some are facing more difficult situations like getting a ..read more

1 Chronicles 16:34 “Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His love endures forever.” Sitting at the dinner table on Thanksgiving many years ago, our very young niece said we should each say what we are thankful for…taken off guard…all the adults at the table hesitated for a few minutes before sharing. This should be one of the easiest questions to answer- What are you thankful for? Yet it seemed very difficult to answer at that moment. Since then, I try to take time each day to thank God for the blessings He has given me. It is important to thank God and never take Him for granted. God is ..read more

WORDS…

Psalm 19:14 “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my Strength and my Redeemer.” One special thing I remember about my husband’s grandmother was how she studied her Bible. I remember always crawling on her bed when we were visiting and her sharing something she was studying. I would hear her speak Psalm 19:14 often and it has become a very special verse to me. Many times, we remember words or actions of those we admire(d) in our life. I recall times when I thought – I hope I can be in control or handle a situation like they did. It is ..read more

Psalm 27:1-3 “The LORD is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall. Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident.” Have you ever thought about why light makes us feel safe? Children want a light on in their room at night – we park in a well-lit area if possible. Light is important to us. God provides the light when we have Him in our life, lighting our wa ..read more

FAITH AND SERVING…

James 2:14-18 “My brothers and sisters, if a person claims to have faith but does nothing, that faith is worth nothing. Faith like that cannot save anyone. Suppose a brother or sister in Christ comes to you in need of clothes or something to eat. And you say to them, “God be with you! I hope you stay warm and get plenty to eat,” but you don’t give them the things they need. If you don’t help them, your words are worthless. It is the same with faith. If it is just faith and nothing more—if it doesn’t do anything—it is dead. But someone might argue, “Some people have faith, and others have good ..read more

HE KNOWS OUR NAME…

Have you ever had someone heading toward you and thought, what is their name? That has happened to me on many occasions. I usually remember faces, but names just slip my mind. I read that approximately 101 billion people have lived on the earth since God created man. Wow, that is a lot of people! I can’t remember the small amount of people’s names that I have met through the years, yet, Jesus knows everyone’s name. As a matter of fact, He knows everything about us, “And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.” (Matthew 10:30) Jesus is our Shepherd and wants all His flock to follow ..read more

Revelations 3:8 “I know what you do. I have put before you an open door that no one can close. I know you are weak, but you have followed My teaching. You were not afraid to speak My name.” Jesus was addressing the Church in Philadelphia in this letter – they were known as a people that were more than hearers; they were doers. In Matthew 7:7, Jesus was speaking to the crowd on the mountain side saying, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Jesus is the one who opens the door to His Father so we can receive salvation and the gift o ..read more

Psalm 103:2 “Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things He does for me.” I love singing from the red hymnal on Sunday morning, “Count your blessings, name them one by one, count your blessings, see what God has done! Count your blessings, name them one by one, and it will surprise you what the Lord has done.” She was sitting by his hospital bed gently caressing his hand speaking in a soft voice, “I am so glad you have been my husband for 52 years.  We have been so blessed.  I am thankful we have made so many wonderful memories together.”  This was so special, listen ..read more

Revelations 4:11 “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, because You made all things. Everything existed and was made, because You wanted it.” Psalm 145:3 “The Lord is great and worthy of our praise; no one can understand how great He is.” Psalm 95:6-7 “Come, let’s worship Him and bow down. Let’s kneel before the Lord who made us, because He is our God and we are the people He takes care of, the sheep that He tends.” God is the Creator of the world – Sovereign, Holy, Father, Eternal, Giving, Faithful, Loving, Merciful – He is everything – without Him we are n ..read more

Psalm 9:1 “I will give thanks to You, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all Your wonderful deeds.” Psalm 118:29 “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.” Colossians 2:7 “Keep your roots deep in Him and have your lives built on Him. Be strong in the faith, just as you were taught, and always be thankful.” I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart.  This should be a motto of all believers.  Being thankful not only speaks to the person we are grateful to, but it speaks to us reminding us of the good that we have received.  God has given us so much – people ..read more
