I have been battling allergy rhinitis for three years now.  It all started when I was pregnant.  I started getting a lot of mucus at around six and half months pregnant.  I could not shift this mucus; if felt as though it was clogging my airways.  I could not get it out through my mouth nor my nose and it just seemed to be make breathing very uncomfortable.  It was so bad that I began to feel claustrophobic and panicky.  I would fear having sweet stuff because it might cause more mucus.  I did not want to have the heater on, even in winter, because it woul ..read more

Honestly whether your vegan or not…this place makes the most amazing food and desserts.  You can get no better Southern Fried ‘Chicken’ and ‘Bacon’ burger…dare I say even from the place you might perceive as the original maker of such foods. [thinking of hand over mouth emoji right now] The ‘chicken’ burger is super crispy and not oily; I personally think they do it in an air fryer.  The burger has a hint of spice which is a surprising welcome.  The ‘bacon’ is smokey, crispy and delicious.  A bacon lover could honestly live on this stuff and it would come with none of th ..read more

Ingredients 1 medium to large banana [in the summer one can use frozen banana] 3 tsp instant coffee in half a mug of boiling water [I use decaf for myself] 2 dates [pitted] 1 handful of baby spinach 1 to 2 tbsp almond or peanut butter [to taste] 1 tsp cocoa nibs or powder ½ glass almond of soya milk [cold from the fridge] Method Just put all the ingredients in a blender and blend away.  I recommend cold vegan milk from the fridge to counter the warm coffee; you cannot put warm liquids in most blenders.  I blend for about 40 seconds, depending on the power of the particular blender ..read more

I am 34 years old and it is only now that I have made the full transition to veganism.  It has been many years of trying to change my diet for ethical reasons.  I started eating only free range meat at first and had been doing so for years.  I thought it was better for the animal and my body to eat free range meat.  In my mind the animal did not suffer during their life time and got to live and feed on luscious pastures.  This meant that they were fed grass and not grain fed and they were not given routine antibiotics and therefore the antibiotics and plethora of me ..read more

Flowers received from my mother Covid19, lockdown, infections, death toll, number of active cases, ms teams, dinner, cleaning, teaching, exercise, Trump, China, Italy, vaccines, work, shopping… At any given time during these unique times one of these words is at the back of your mind.  In fact, you are lucky if it is just these words and not starvation and where do I get food and money for food? My posts are usually about sustainability and the planet however this post is geared more towards the human species and our mental health during this time…self-sustainability. What you feel is ..read more

Face mask and hand sanitizer Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined that the world would be going through this pandemic right now.  2020 has certainly been interesting thus far…apart from Covid19 it has had many other interesting aspects to it already for me. I knew that the world was sick.  I knew that the way we were living as a human race was just not sustainable.  What I did not know was how, and who, was going to get people to wake up…to listen… and hopefully change.  No person could bring the world to a halt.  No one person could make airlines stop flying, people stop drivi ..read more

Apple tree If you have been following my blog, and if you know me, you would know that I have had an ethical issue with eating meat for a long while.  It begun when I got my first fur baby.  I realized that animals feel and know what is going on around them; they are sentient beings.  They are intelligent beings, just like us, and like us they deserve to not be separated from their family, enslaved, tortured and killed.  I could not reconcile eating any animal and yet love and call another my baby.  I liked meat and enjoyed it actually.  But just because you like and enjoy something; it do ..read more

A new year always brings with it a sense of starting afresh.  It’s like what happened in 2019 stays in 2019 and we start 2020 on a clean slate.  Thus I suppose all the news year’s resolutions.  I know that new year’s resolutions are frowned upon and are considered clichéd.  I however think that whatever propels an individual to become a better version of themselves can never be a bad thing.  Unfortunately, what transpired in 2019 from an environmental perspective cannot be forgotten, it will have an impact on us for years to come.  With each passing year pollution becomes worse and worse ..read more

It has been a few weeks since my last post on the dairy evolution; which explained the horrors of the dairy industry and the suffering endured by the dairy cows.  Year-end deadlines, exhaustion, a holiday and an increased social calendar have been keeping me busy.  I don’t feel centered when I don’t have a chance to write which requires me to sit in silence… it is indeed my happy place.   I am so happy and grateful to be able to write again.  I received so many comments, sent to me personally, on my last post.  It is really exciting to know that people are reading my blog posts and apprecia ..read more
