The First 8 Weeks Postpartum I remember one of our PregActive Mamas telling me the first 6 weeks “It’s just like you are trying to keep a potato alive”. There’s no smiles and you are covered in poop and vomit, and not sleeping. Well, if that’s the case, I have a very cute potato. And I adore him, and to be honest, have loved the first 6 weeks. Well, apart from week five that is. That’s when, and wait for it, I got. MASTITIS! Boom. Just like that my whole life got tipped upside down and bumped on the head. So that’s why I don’t have a progress photo for week 5! I was busy stuffing cabbage leave ..read more

Max’s Birth: Part THREE Max’s Birth Story.. We Meet Our Son! It’s go time I was sucking on a hydrolyte icy pole (by the way, those things are gooooood!) as Paul packed the car. All my swaying, bouncing and moving came to a halt as I was now bound to a seat. Later I found out the ride was only 21 minutes long, but boy did it feel like forever. I held on to the bar, wound down the window and groaned my way through each contraction that came. As we drove, we spoke to the midwife and birthing suite and all I remember saying “can someone please get the bath running”. I had it in my head I wanted to ..read more

Max’s Birth: Part TWO Max’s Birth Story.. it’s all happening. The phone call to the midwife As we drove home I called my midwife. We are in the Midwifery Group Practice which has been amazing. We have seen one midwife for every appointment and then have a back up midwife as well. It’s a small team of midwives, and they all support each other and have the same philosophies. The call got diverted to another midwife and she went through the questions: how many weeks are you? How are you feeling? How far from the hospital are you? Did you have the GBS test and are you GBS negative or GBS positive ..read more

Max’s Birth: Part ONE Max’s Birth Story.. the beginning. My drug free quick labour was everything I could have hoped for. It was amazing and empowering and I’m so proud to say all my preparation paid off. Using the PregActive Birth Skills I’ve taught hundreds of women were exactly what I needed to help me. And the reward of meeting my little baby boy and having so much energy to enjoy him after he arrived, was just the best. I was on the high of love, and love him I do. Here’s the story of how it all happened.. Yep, my water’s broke in the middle of a yoga class. It’s true. My waters broke rig ..read more

My Pregnancy Week 36 Pregnancy Week 36 – New Year We made it! We always wanted our bub to arrive in 2020. That’s when he’s due, but hey, it doesn’t always mean that’s when he’ll arrive! Babies often come at random times. I was speaking to a lady just before Christmas. She asked when I was due. I said 29th January 2020. She said, ‘oh I was due end of Jan with my second as well, but she came on the 21st of December. It was the 23rd of December when I was talking with her. Yep, reality hit that day. But now, we’re into January and hey, we might even go into February! Who knows! Loving being at h ..read more

My Pregnancy Week 35 Pregnancy Week 35 and it’s Christmas I’m not sure what I love more Christmas itself, or playing ‘All I want for Christmas is You’ by Mariah Carey on constant repeat. Yep, I’m one of those people. And proud of it. Every class I taught in the week leading up to Christmas.. we played it. Setting up the Christmas tree… we played it. Christmas Eve.. we played it. Christmas Day… we played it. Love Actually has to be in my top 10 movies of all time. Not one, mind you, that I watch with my husband. Either girlfriends or me just watching solo! So yep, Christmas Day we turned 35 wee ..read more
