Trends come and go. What looked cool a year ago might seem boring today. But, if there’s a style that has stood the test of time, it’s ‘White shirt and Blue jeans‘. Nothing screams chic yet effortless like a pair of jeans worn with white blouse/shirt. Going out to spend a day with your friends and can’t decide what to wear? Put on your most comfortable pair of jeans and a white shirt and you are good to go. Want to take it up a notch? swab on some red lipstick (never goes wrong!) and accessorize. And yes, if you are comfortable in heels, swap your flats for heels and your jeans and white shirt ..read more

SUNSCREEN 101

I know, I know, the name of the blog post probably hints to it being a boring read. Fret not, in order to ensure that you don’t fall asleep mid-reading, I have covered the topic of sunscreens as answers to questions that normally hound us about them. It doesn’t matter whether you are a ‘Religiously following 10 step skincare regimen every single day skincare junkie’ or ‘Dab vaseline on lips and I am done skincare enthusiast’, sunscreen is the non-negotiable step in both the scenarios. 1. Why should we apply sunscreen? – Sunscreens protect our skin from harmful UV rays. – Regular use of sunscre ..read more

Spring is like rewarding a child for her/his good behaviour with chocolates. After enduring months of dreary winter, nature decides to bless us with a riot of colors in the name of spring as a reward. The temperature is not too cold and not too warm but just perfect! We could finally take our picnic blankets to the parks and soak in the sunlight for hours at a stretch after spending months as unidentifiable creatures bundled up in our coats. We can take long walks without looking like a tub of water was just overturned on us like our drenched, sweaty selves in summer. The feeling of seeing flo ..read more

Dress like Emma

If I could, I would wear dresses every day for the rest of my life and would not mind one bit. During my primary school days, we were permitted to wear ‘colored dress‘ on Wednesdays. On one such Wednesday, in the first grade, I remember refusing to remove my suit jacket even though we were playing under the blistering sun. The reason being, in my little head, I thought that the suit dress I was wearing looked identical to the one Lady Diana wore in one of the magazine pictures, and I was — and still am — a huge fan of people’s princess Diana for her philanthropic work and her fashion choi ..read more

SCENE 1 LOCATION – Hospital CHARACTERS – a junior doctor and a senior doctor. A young male doctor is pacing anxiously in his superior’s chamber as it’s the first day of his new posting and he has to report to his superior first. The door suddenly opens to reveal not his superior but his superior’s colleague. He stops pacing and greets him. The senior doctor looks at him from head to toe and proceeds to sit languidly on the chair. After asking his name, about his marriage status and other intrusive personal questions, the senior doctor then comments that the young doctor would have no trouble w ..read more

CHAPTER 7 Just when she thought that that dirty, white Maruti car with an ugly frog logo on the front glass would be the last thing that she would see, Indu felt someone yanking her towards the sidewalk. The second she stepped onto the sidewalk, the car swooshed past the spot where she had stood just moments before. Breathing heavily, she looked up to thank the person who had saved her life and turned speechless when she saw that it was none other than Atharv. With his hand clutching Indu’s arm, Atharv stood panting, his eyes on the car now speeding away, whose driver hadn’t even attempted to ..read more

Previously… Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 CHAPTER 6 “D unit, stay back. I would like to discuss some issues with you first. Follow me” saying so Atharv went inside an adjacent room that connected the two wards — 203 & 204 — and where, interns and PGs would usually sit to write their case sheets or to discuss confidential matters with the patients’ attenders. Indu and her friends looked at each other in alarm and followed Atharv reluctantly, wondering what was in store for them. As they started to gather inside the room in apprehension, Atharv’s phone rang and he went ..read more

The life as we know it has forever been changed by something that’s not even visible to a naked eye. It is day 19 of lockdown in India, and it’s day 22 since the stay-at-home or ‘The New York State on PAUSE’ order was issued in the city that I consider as my second home. It breaks my heart to see New York, which is the epicenter of the pandemic in USA, struggling everyday with all it’s might to stand tall even when the SARS-CoV-2 is doing its best to bring the city to its knees. But, as sure as I am of the planets revolving around the sun, I am sure of the fact that New York will get through t ..read more

‘Dhan, dhan, dhan…’ the ancient clock on the wall in the front passage of dodammi’s* house chimed 12 times very slowly, as if it was bored out of its mind and had given up on life. Sharing a similar sentiment were the 7 of us cousins, who lay sprawled in various positions on and around the couch near the front door. “This sucks” said Sukruth, who sat slumped on the floor and was inching towards the floor minute by minute. “I know. They have forbidden us from playing inside AND outside. How are we supposed to while away the time? I am so bored” I said, trying my best to roller skate in the narr ..read more

Hello guys, I am sure that by now everyone on this planet has heard the word ‘Coronavirus’—unless you have been living under a rock all this time— and how it’s wreaking havoc in every continent save for Antarctica, at the time of writing this post. WHO (World Health Organization), declared the rapidly spreading COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic on 11th March. WHO defines pandemic as ‘the worldwide spread of a new disease‘. A panicky atmosphere has cloaked us all. People are being advised to avoid crowds, practice social distancing and to give importance to personal hygiene. But they are getting anx ..read more
