During the 7th Annual Symposium on Positive Aging hosted by The Wechsler Center For Modern Aging at the Marlene Meyerson Jewish Community Center Manhattan in New York, I had the chance to view Lives Well Lived, an award-winning documentary by Sky Bergman. The film celebrates the incredible wit and wisdom of adults 75 to 100 years old who are living their lives to the fullest. It was inspiring to watch, so much so that I thought I would share some of my favorites from the film during this holiday week as a way of giving thanks to our elders. Since I’m approaching my 65th birthda ..read more

How Jones Road Miracle Balm Is Perking Up My 60+ Fall Beauty Routine
A Baby Boomer Woman's Life After 50

With autumn in full swing I thought it was time to face the facts about my aging skin and change up my fall beauty routine. I needed a perk after looking at myself in the mirror a few weeks ago. OMG my soon to be 65 year-old face was indeed looking dull and wrinkly. I realized it had been almost 10 years since I bought any makeup or changed any colors. Not that I wear much makeup these days since the pandemic — moisturizers and tinted sunscreen are my standard while expensive foundations collect dust. I consider myself to be an au natural gal on most days since retiring. Jones Road ..read more

It was early Saturday morning and my son D and daughter A and I were about to embark on a getaway to Santa Ynez Valley. Our plan was to celebrate D’s birthday in this California wine country, where the air is fresh, the vistas wide and outdoor living is at its finest. It would be a weekend of creating wonderful memories with my two favorite people. A relaxing drive to Santa Inez Valley We packed up the car and headed north from L.A. on HWY 101. To create the relaxed mood, D set Spotify to Harry Styles’  Harry’s House. With songs like “Daydreaming” and “Keep Driving” I felt like I was bei ..read more

“Are you going to the Natural Products Expo East?” asked my friend S. Having been to the Specialty Fancy Foods Show for many years (BC = Before Covid), I was eager to see what was trending — from natural and organic to health-oriented and sustainable.(It was amazing to see how many of the same foods and beverages are trending as three years ago.) “You’re approved for a media pass” was all I needed to make it happen. And there I was a few days later in the middle of the Philadelphia Convention Center along with 18,500 other attendees. Ready, set, go! With my step-counter in check, I walked up ..read more

I always find that September is a time of renewal. With the changing of the seasons, comes a shift to cooler weather and autumn routines. A big transition I had last September was meeting my new boyfriend E. It was a year ago that I hit send on my first online flirt after my long-term relationship ended in spring 2021. It was hard to put myself out there again.  Online dating over 50 While I’ve had a relatively good experience (for the most part) with online dating, for some it can be very scary to take the initial step, especially when you find yourself single at this age. That’s why whe ..read more

As August comes to a close, I’ve been in a “California Dreamin’” kind of mood, so it’s a perfect time to catch up on the fab places I visited during my vacay in Los Angeles this year. I went out to California to see my son D who moved west last year for his dream job in the entertainment industry. My daughter A joined me.     There were to be celeb sightings during my trip to Los Angeles California on my mind I’ve always loved California. It’s one of my favorite places to vacay. How I’ve Been Embracing Quarantine with a Positive Dose of Covid
A Baby Boomer Woman's Life After 50

Boy-o-boy, the Covid virus finally got a hold of my body this week forcing me to slow down. Thankfully, I have my vaccine and boosters up-to-date so my case isn’t too bad. For those of you who haven’t joined the positive group yet, this virus is like the flu and it will likely, at our age, make you tired. Bad sore throat here too. BTW I tried Paxlovid, the drug that supposedly speeds up the virus shedding, and it didn’t agree with me — made me more nauseous and gave me a metallic taste in my mouth. I tested positive for Covid Embracing quarantine day by day This virus has given me time to re ..read more

It’s always nice when my blog gets recognized in the blogosphere. It’s especially fulfilling when my travel writing is honored. I love to travel during my life after 50 — experience new places around the USA and around the world — and share those places with my readers and followers. Having more time to travel is one of my favorite things about being retired. It excites me when people enjoy my travel stories and when they want to follow in my footsteps to a destination, or book a sightseeing tour, hotel or restaurant I recommend. It’s even better when readers comment and tell me afterwards how ..read more
