Summer 2021 was a time of healing, discovery and self-reflection. After my father’s celebration of life, my mom, mother-in-law, husband and I headed west for a well needed road trip. This would be the first time my mom traveled so far from home, and it would the first time the four of us would be in each other’s presence for 10 days straight. The adventure began with a visit to Indianapolis before heading to Missouri to visit family in the Saint Louis area. This was the one part of the trip I did not plan, so it was an unexpected surprise to discover Saint Charles!

Life is just plain stressful. The routine of our daily lives constantly nudges at us, adding more and more stress from the ever-changing world. The cure? Taking a Maine break.
Maine is a feeling. Worries and stress ebb away from you as you exhale into the salty air. Tension releases from your shoulders as the salty breeze grazes your skin. It is just what we need sometimes.
A Childhood Memory
Maine became a family favorite in the 80s when we used to visit in the summers. It was my first introduction to the ocean, and I’ve been in love ever since.
And yes…I loved pictures even then.

Mystic Seaport
The Mystic Seaport is a small, whimsical coastal village in Connecticut, known for its sails. Since the 1600s, shipbuilding has been the dominant force behind Mystic’s development. Over 600 vessels have been built on the Mystic Seaport, creating a picturesque backdrop to this charming New England town. My love for this town began a few years ago on a day trip, but a few months ago I returned. I hope my guide to Mystic, CT inspires you to visit.

Indianapolis was the first stop on our five city road trip (hashtag #mileswiththemils). My family had just planned a Celebration of Life for my father who passed away in March. So this trip came immediately afterward and at the best time possible. My husband, myself and both of our mothers, hence the Mils (mother-in-laws) title, packed our bags and headed on a 10 day road trip.
When road tripping, we mostly plan on staying in one location for a day or two, allowing time to see more places. We spent one day in Indianapolis, but man-I wish we had stayed longer. Indianapolis is totally underrat ..read more

This past year has been a rough one. With my father’s passing and the pandemic, it has been a high-stress time for me and my family. But this year was also a huge year for me-I turned the big 4-0! Since the pandemic destroyed my hopes of a huge 40th birthday party with a live sloth, a piñata, and 50 of my closest friends, I decided to go a different route (pun intended). The Vermont Inn-to-Inn Walking Tour! Walking tours are a very European concept, so it isn’t easy to find one in the US. But when I first heard about the Vermont Inn-to-Inn, I couldn’t stop thinking about it.

The Rocky Coast
It is easy to fall in love with New England’s primitive and rustic culture, where old meets new. Tourism in small, coastal towns like trendy Portsmouth are growing, especially during the pandemic, when cruises and international travel are no longer applicable.
When we think of New Hampshire, we usually think of the White Mountains. We often forget about its 18 miles of rocky coastline. My husband and I had explored the White Mountains a few years back, but during the summer of 2020, we needed a quick and relatively safe getaway where we could try and forget about Covid.

Hey everyone! I’m back from quarantine with some extra cool tips on how to travel locally while maintaining social distance. The last few months I have stayed relatively close to home (my husband and I just moved to a new house only 2 miles from our old one!) But as any traveler will tell you, and as most of you know, it is so hard to stay put. With safety in mind, I discovered some socially distant activities that feel like traveling while staying within a few hours of home.

The Opening Act
Years ago, during a college Winterim session, I had the opportunity to travel to London through a Literature and Theatre class. The London Theatre, compared to Broadway, seemed more personal, more connected. One moment we were brushing shoulders with Joseph Fiennes, and the next moment we were intimately watching Maggie Smith and Dame Judi Dench deliver a heart-wrenching performance in The Breath of Life. My two week visit was so memorable, that I’d like to share it with all of you. Enjoy my official London Theatre Guide.

It’s no surprise that Nashville is a hot spot for bachelorette parties and those seeking a good time among the trendiest of music scenes. However, there are many off-Broadway spots that tourists may not think to visit. I have put together a list of great bars in Nashville, Tennessee to grab an adult beverage.
L.A. Jackson @ Thompson Hotel
This rooftop bar was recommended by a local and is a favorite of mine. It opens up to an outside heated patio that overlooks the city. This trendy bar serves craft beer, custom cocktails and a signature frosé .
