A few days ago, I sent out an email about the Gillette ad that brought outbursts from thousands and millions of men across the globe. Then, I got a really well-written response from one of my subscribers that I’d like to share with everyone because I think everybody must see it. Gentlemen, Please allow me to play devil’s advocate and share with you how this ad played out in some circles in Canada and the US. The reaction to the ad has been overwhelmingly negative with 1.5 Million ne ..read more

Money, Make It and Don’t Just Mouth It

Money is such a topical debate and has so many angles to discuss. Well, I’m going to discuss it from my position and perspective. That is all it is, it will be based on where you are now and how you think about it. It’s about your mindset, that’s all it comes down to, but the mind is a very funny thing and has a way of creating delusions that can help or hinder your pledge in life. Any the way you look at it, money is a man-made construct and definitely isn’t a living breathing thing like people are. So be mindful of it or it ..read more

What is procrastination anyway? Google says Procrastination is the avoidance of doing a task that needs to be accomplished by a certain deadline. It could be further stated as a habitual or intentional delay of starting or finishing a task despite knowing it might have negative consequences. So, you want to leave that job, or maybe start going to the gym, clear out the garage and start selling on eBay or amazon, start the hobby you have been thinking about for the last 5 years. Now it should be simple you think about it and ..read more

Man Up!
Eldridge Cooke

People really think men rule the world, but we really don’t! Everything we do is because of a woman in some way. If we have a bad day we’re told man up, get over it, just deal with it, etc. A lot of fathers get no love at all, because apparently most of us are bad or not present and even when we’re good and present we’re told “why do you want praise for doing what you should be doing anyway?”. It’s all messed up. Some women prepare for their man to mess up, so start doing things on their own without the inclusion of their partner. If you have a good man doing what he is supposed to be doing, d ..read more

Great men gone

Where have all the great men gone? Once upon a time we had great warriors, leaders and gladiators who represented the male narrative. Men such as Leonidas of Sparta, Genghis Khan, Attila the Hun and Sparticus.  These men stood out as the kings of masculinity, building empires, conquering vast lands and battling their way to greatness.  Fast forward today to the 21st century and we are fighting a new epidemic, ‘toxic masculinity’ as it has been coined. Men that seem to own the most expensive cars, wear the best clothes and watch ..read more

A very good friend of mine, once asked why I never accepted any of those high paying/career changing jobs abroad that I often spoked about. The truth of the matter was that they were actually worth pursuing. I was making all these excuses, finding all sorts of reasons to talk myself out of them being a good idea and therefore never followed through on any. What was my real reason – my ‘WHY’? I decided to take off my suit of armour and dug deeper to unravel my truths. By retracing my steps, I realised that my behaviour-driven programming stemmed from my child hood!! Where you come from is where your raw is!

Grandmaster Flash and the Furious 5 had a hit track in 1982 The message. What a fitting song for my hood or neighbourhood should I say. I went to visit a friend in his restaurant in East London just up the road from where I grew up. I must state here that I am a firm believer of remembering where you come from but when visiting I tend to feel significant challenges and a feeling of sadness. Just looking out of the window you could see the same old characters and signs of poverty, drugs and crime are always so evident if you know the code, the code that sometimes you wished you were unaware of ..read more

Fingers in Pies

Yesterday I visited a company that is in the music business! The music studio is set up at the bottom of a garden at the back of a Turkish restaurant in East London/Essex. A sort of hidden gem located between overgrown weeds and the restaurant’s refuse. This is my first point location, location, location! So I entered the studio to the sweet smelling aroma of the ‘cheese’ ‘the loud’ the skunk.’ What is it about the music business and that aroma? I think there’s a connection between that and music creativity. I digress!   Discov ..read more

The Renaissance

‘The activity, spirit, or time of the great revival of art, literature, and learning in Europe beginning in the 14th century and extending to the 17th century, marking the transition from the medieval to the modern world.’ Source: Dictionary.com Recently the term ‘Renaissance’ came up in conversation, once when speaking with my brother, and once with a friend. Me being me – not much into history or historical facts, only if I can relate it to modern time – decided, as I do, to ‘google’ the word and came across the above definition which described a period. What I found fascinating was, to me ..read more
