Oh my…. what a long time it’s been since my last post! I feel ashamed and guilty, but I had so much going on and I wasn’t in the best shape at times to write a post. and on the other hand, to be very honest, I didn’t want to write anything about my pregnancy, because of the fear that something could still go wrong. so first of all, my deepest apologies for the long silence on my blog. My last post dates from March 2020, just at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic and wow… did we know how our lives would change over the course of this year. I guess this is valid for every human being on the ..read more

Covid-19 puts a shadow on endo awareness month All eyes on Corona! What was planned to become a month full of events, press, news, information and people gatherings on endometriosis turned into a month, in which the whole world is focussed on the horrible Covid-19 or Coronavirus. No more endo events, marches, high teas or book readings can take place, since most countries forbid gatherings with more than 5 people currently. This is unseen and we were not prepared for this. The spotlight is not on endometriosis this month: all eyes are on Corona. Who would have thought, that 2020 would become t ..read more

3 weeks into the endo-diet

And it’s been a rollercoaster… I started off really fantastic and I was very strict the first week. I made some exceptions in week 2 and before I knew it, I was making an exception on something every day in week 3… I still avoid gluten, coffee and most dairy, but I had a couple of glasses of wine (and… even a beer!), some chocolate and cheese. I do feel that my bowel movements are a bit more uneasy, but I’m not in any pain. As I’m on the diet, not to avoid symptoms, but because I hope it will also slow down the growth of the endometrioma, it is hard to know what ingredients are the worst for ..read more

Endometriosis Awareness: make March yellow! Photo by mododeolhar from Pexels Ladies, this is our time: March is endometriosis awareness month and it is our moment to talk, write, blog, post about endo. I have the feeling that still today, despite of all the publicity it gets, still half of all the people I talk to (especially men!) have never heard of it. With 1 women in 10 (at least) suffering from it and often having very unpleasant consequences, this is unacceptable. Even if it affects women only and even if it is not directly life threathening, it has major impacts on our health and our li ..read more

My first week of the anti-inflammatory endo diet
Endometriosis and trying

One experimental week it was… I ate plenty of new foods, went to new stores and discovered an online offering I never knew that existed. Even if I find it hard, not being able to eat everything, I had imagined it to be more difficult than it actually is. I admit, I mostly ate at home, so I could always choose myself what I wanted to cook and I believe that dinner at family or friends, or in a social setting is probably the hardest to stick to the diet. But as I decided that I will not stick to it 100%, but try to reach 80 or 90%, I think it will not be so bad. This week I tried to avoid all gl ..read more

Day 5…

Only a brief post today, to give an update on my experience with the endo diet. I had an interesting encounter yesterday with another endometriosis patient who told me, I don’t have to be 100% strict about the endo diet… if I am doing 80%, this is already fantastic and a tremendous change with what I was eating beforehand. I wish I never heard this… because since then, I ate one piece of chocolate and some cheese… I feel soooo guilty about it!! I especially struggle with snacks… because I shouldn’t eat too much fruit either (max. 2 pieces a day, because of the sugar level), so I’m not too sur ..read more

Day 3 of the endo diet

3 days since my last gluten, lactose, sugar, alcohol, red meat and soja… 3 days since I decided to give the so called endometriosis-diet a try. After 2 surgeries in 12 months, I am open to try about anything to try and stop this crazy thing from growing on my organs. So far so good, I should say. I am discovering new products in my local organic supermarket and I am finding new restaurants for lunch, which offer really nice and fresh vegetable buffets. The bio supermarkets in Switzerland are great and you can find alternatives for everything. (I even found cheese, made from nuts today!! Which ..read more

The start of a new way of life? Hi readers! Let me start with the causes which have lead to the topic of today’s post: 10 years of pain, cramps, birth control pills, doctor visits, hospital emergency rooms, false diagnoses, 1 year after my first laparoscopy and a horrible experience with IVF, where hormones made my endo explode, a complication of the surgery which has damaged my sciatic nerve, 2 weeks after my second laparoscopy… with intense bloating, crazy bowel sounds, cramps and belly aches,… (you probably all know these symptoms all too well…) A combination of all these things have finaly ..read more

Day 5 after my second laparoscopy and I finally found some energy to write about it. Since everything is still fresh in my memory, in today’s post, I will give some tips about how to prepare for and how to survive the days/weeks after a laparoscopy. (Here you can find the link to the Story of my first laparoscopy.) I hope it can help some of you and answer some of the questions you might have. Waiting to get startedLaparoscopy = laparoscopy? I now had 2 laparoscopic surgeries, which makes me able to compare and I can tell you that laparoscopy does not equal laparoscopy… depending on the severe ..read more

Endo strikes back (so soon!)

Endo strikes back Hey there readers, here’s a post… from my hospital bed… I just woke up after my second endo surgery (in 12 months). I never thought it would come back so fast, but it did… So here’s the story: I actually fel quite well after my first laparoscopic surgery, except for my S2, S3 nerves being damaged from it…. I felt good, had my period and we were trying to go for a natural pregnancy. We went on holiday in December, where… I have to admit, I completely overdid it with food, drinks, coffee,… I didn’t start with the endometriosis diet after the first surgery.. 1) because I didn’t ..read more
